Minor spoilers if you haven't visited Dark Valley and Borov yet:
[SPOILER]In the sidequest where you free the duty member from the bandit base, I cannot frob/use the controls on the wall to open the cell. I tried knifing the controls and that does destroy them, also I can just knife open the cell door, but the Dutyer refuses to come out and keeps saying to use the controls to open the door, even though it is standing open. :nono:
I read a walkthrough that implied you could just use the controls, but I don't see any text appear when I put my crosshairs on them, and hitting use does nothing. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and is there a solution?
Initially I killed Borov first and before trying to free the dutyer. I tried restoring to a save before I killed Borov in case that was what broke the quest, but still couldn't use the controls. Some other usable objects seem broken, like the cabinet doors and lockers in Borov's office.

That is odd, I just pressed the switch to open the cell.
Are you standing close enough to it? If so, then you are experiencing a bug I guess. This isn't an important quest so you can just walk away and move on.

I think I remember the switch seeming hard to hit, because you have to activate just a little part of the th controls, though I really can't remember

When i did it i just walked up to the console, pressed and it opened, had killed Borov earlier. My problems with this quest where more that the guy got majorly confused by respawned enemies and insisted to sprint all over the place :tsktsk:

I left the guy after opening the cell myself. Were you supposed to take him somewhere other than out of the cell?

Yeah, you could reunite him with the other two duty guys, if they lived.

Well, he will grab a gun off the floor and fight his way out, so he might kill some bandits for you. More likely though, he just dies.

I tried standing close to the controls, crouching near it and frobbing all over, but nothing worked. Just to make sure I'm not being dumb, the controls are the box on the wall with the big green button and the red one next to it, right? Maybe the state of that box is broken. Which light is supposed to be lit when the cell is closed, the left/green one, or the right/red one?
Are the desk drawers/cabinets in Borov's office also supposed to be frobable? Because I couldn't use those either.
At this point, the other two duty guys have left the dark valley area (last seen headed for the Garbage exit). Don't know if that makes a difference.
Could I ask what you get for this quest so I can decide if it's worth it to keep trying to get it to work? I guess I should try leaving the area and coming back to see if that fixes it.

IIRC, you don't get anything for it at all.
