Hi all,
I posted this on another section(discussion) but think that may have been the wrong place for it. So here it is again. :-)
I seem to be having a problem in the crypt, when trying to go down to the 2nd level(I think) It's where you see the sign that says to not awake the sleeping..or something of that sort. It has the two zombies laying on the floor that you have to put the wooden stake in?
Well the walkthrough I've looked at says to get the stone in the corner and place it on the pressure plate and then the gate is supposed to open so you can go through. I have done everything before above in the other rooms..checked everything I know..gotten all the goodies I was supposed to, but I cannot get it to open the iron gate when I place the stone on the plate. Anyone know what might be wrong? Thanks so very much for any help. I have not read of anyone else having this problem..strange stuff to me. :>)

If it's the room I think it is, the plate requires 2 stones, that unlocks two levers in the room which open the door.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it. :-) I dont know if we're speaking of the same room, for I dont recall seeing TWO stones. Only one on the right side as you enter the room. I believe the zombies(vampires?) are supposed to attack you as you go in. I think the first time I went there in game play THEY DID attack..but the other times they haven't.
The room as I see it when I try to enter it has the sign saying to not awaken the sleeping(I think). You are supposed to fight a vampire or two and kill them then stake them so they stay dead. There are two levers in the room, but they trigger a trap that brings the vampires back to life, so the walkthrough said dont bother them at all.
I go into the room, look right and inside a coffin I believe is a bracelet or necklace of gold. In the far right corner is the stone..when you point at it..it is highlighted so it obviously is the right one. I place it on the pressure plate which is just in front of a big stone grave marker(?) with a cross on top of it. The iron grate door is just beyond the pressure plate and is supposed to open when the stone is dropped on it. It doesn't do so for me though. It sounds like it's going to work..but it just never opens. Did I miss something? I have looked everywhere in that room for more stones that you can move. Thanks for any farther help you can give...or anyone else for that matter. This has me puzzled..and wondering if I'm going to have to start this whole quest over from the beginning.

Hey man,
I finally figured it out. I took the stone from the corner right hand corner of room and placed it on the pressure plate, THEN I hit the lever on the left side first..for the right side wouldn't click. The one vampire came alive and I killed him and staked him. THEN..I went to the opposite side and clicked the other lever and the second vampire came alive and I did the same with him.
Lo and behold the iron grate opened up and I'm able to go into the next room.(grin) Man, I was really struggling with that one...and it turns out to be quite simple. Geez. I'm new to this game...so I guess if this one was hard..I'm in for big trouble in some other places. lol. Thanks for your efforts it's appreciated a lot.

I don't know which walkthru you have but try this link for the best one. Just scroll down to the Arx section and download the pdf one. Its got excellent descriptions of everything including secrets. It has pics too. Here is the link:

Ok, I finally managed to follow that link..it was very much like a game puzzle itself. Haha. Once there though...I updated my Adobe Reader and all..but the link for download said file could not be found on this server. I'm at a total loss here, it seems. I could really use that PDF walkthrough about now to. I've gotten all six stones and am in the process of trying to solve the puzzle by placing the stones properly. I cannot do it evidently.(grin) I did finish what I thought was the proper placement..and a voice said you are on the right path..or some such thing. But I was able to do nothing else. Stuck there.

Hi again, guys.
Hey, if any of you could send me the Arx Fatalis PDF walkthrough by email I would much appreciate it. I am in bad need of it and the link doesn't work for me. Thanks a lot. vanieboy@hotmail.com

Its on the way now! Hope it helps you as much as it helped me.

P.S. I know that in the 6 rooms before the disc room, you need to look at the floor of each room for a pic of a disc. Thats the order they have to be set in first I believe.

Hi Stingm,
Yeah, know about the signs on the floor in the rooms..but I cannot remember the order of them. lol. Too much moving around and I lose my perspective of where I'm at in relation to the room where you place the stones, you know. I tried some different ways but none were right.
This is probably really not that hard in the end, but for a guy who is relatively new to RPG type games, of which I've only played three or four, it can be a bit daunting to say the least.(grin). I played Morrowind, and Obliviion I also played Dark Messiah Of Might & Magic.
I really liked the Elder Scroll's series. I tried Daggerfall once but couldn't get it to run on XP so..I was out of luck. Tried all kinds of advice from the net..nothing worked out.
I have the Witcher and Neverwinter Nights 2 that I started to sort of play around with...but that is pretty much it as far as my experience with RPGs. And I am 61 yrs old and only got into gaming later in life. I mostly have played COD and MOHAA and Battlefield for a good many years, but they've gotten boring to me..so I'm trying to find some good 1st person perspective RPGs. I ran across Arx..and thought it was pretty cool, really. I cant stand the Isometric view at all.(3rd person?) I like BEING the character I'm playing, not controling him like a puppet. To each his own though. Thanks for sending the file. You guys have a nice group here...congrats on that. Have a good one.
