Hi
First time I played Tribunal it was on my PC, and I got Sulen Hlas (Trader in Mournhold) fixed up with Merina Gilnitch (cant exactly remember the name). In my journal it said I should wait two days, and I did, by running arround the catacombs beneath slaying goblins and high elves alike. When I returned I saw the couple outside Winged Guar and talked to them. Then I visited Sunel Hlas again later, and he gave me the BiPolar blade.
Now I did the same thing on the GOTY edition on the Xbox (except for running in catacombs as Im to low level, and saying hello to them in the Winged Guar) and when I returned the date had ended sourly.
Do I have to talk with them during the date or do I have to be off higher level?

I took me a while to figure this out, but when you arrange the date you have to keep the trader talking and you should get a thread with 3 options coming from it (the ones you get in red) then you have to tell him to just be himself and the date goes well :D

The same thing happened to me, except I only did it once and it was 'soured.' I did meet them during the date and talked to the man, but he just told me to go away. Any help would be appreciated by me, too.

This one annoyed the hell out of me; I had a look at some faqs and they said you specifically need to tell the guy to "be cheerful" or something in the date, so he doesn't drone on about his (dead?) ex-wife and bore his date. Whatever I tried, tho, it ended in failure...

OK I travelled all the way to Mournhold and did the quest just for you Ryushi ;)
1. Tell girl about our friend the trader
2. Go back to trader and ask him about women
3. Threads will come up about our girl
4. DO NOT END CONVERSATION
5. While thread is open as him about the new thread on Marania Gilnith or whatever (our girl)
6. Now you should get the three red scripts
7. Choose the thread which says that he should be optimistic and not to think about his dead wife.
8. Now wait 2 days and do not talk to either of the couple until the trader is back in his shop.
9. Now when you talk you should receive the Bipolar blade for your efforts
10. Have fun with the blade :D
Don't taunt and attack people in towns or houses if you dont want everyone to attack you. The blade can calm humanoid and so the next hit is seen as you as the agressor  . Personally, I hate this weapon, except for its small comedy value.

I'm 90% sure I did exactly that, but failed 4 attempts in a row...

Aww, I feel loved. Thanks for the help. I'll try not to screw it up this time... But I personally like the sword. Not necessarily on people in towns. I use my wolfy claws for that. But it does look immensely cool.

that still leaves 10% :cheeky:
I may have missed an essential part like the disposition level of the trader . . . could be a factor. If your not above 50 with him I don't think he considers you a 'friend' and so doesent take your advice

There isn't anything you can do other than re-load - The result of the quest is random.

You people are terrible matchmakers :tsktsk: . Don't ever try to fix me up. Why would you want to introduce her to that pathetic widower, when fun-loving (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=65232&perpage=25&pagenumber=2) Goval Ralen is new in town and is looking for someone to show him around. He's definitely low maintenance compared to Sulen Hlas. I don't recall receiving the Bipolar Blade for completing the quest, but the satisfaction of uniting two individuals truly destined for each other is reward enough.
