I just got into the Steam home-streaming beta, and I need some advice.
My host PC is a Core i5 running Windows 7, and it's connected to my router via ethernet.
My client is a Macbook Pro running OSX, which generally connects via Wifi. However, under this configuration I was finding that streaming quality wasn't very good, so I wanted to try a wired ethernet connection. I plugged the Macbook directly into the router with an ethernet cable, but I'm not sure how to get it recognized by Steam. I've got it so that I can see the two computers in each others' network browsers, but I don't know how to get steam to recognize them. Any ideas?

So someone on the steam forum suggested trying bootcamp, which wasn't going so well, but after like a day of trying I managed to get Windows 7 installed, and lo! it worked; I was able to connect to my host computer with an ethernet. Unfortunately the performance was awful, so I went back to OSX, and strangely enough it was working there, too. So I have no idea what I did, but I apparently fixed it. It might have something to do with the Thunderbolt-Ethernet adapter, which can be temperamental, it seems.
