I was just wondering, how much trouble would it be to increase the limit on how many characters are allowed in private messages? I have a nasty tendency to ramble, so I've run into the 8,000 character limit error many, many times over. Sometimes I just have to cut out things I was going to say, other times had to send multiple PMs to get the whole message sent.
I'm fairly sure the limit on posts in threads is at least 10,000, if not more, I posted a fanfic a while back that was at least that long. But, it seems like there are a few restrictions on PMs, how many you can send at once, how many you can have saved at once, etc., so if the character limit is just another way of keeping the PMs from overloading the server, or taking up too much space, or something along those lines, that's all right. I'm just curious.
So, how 'bout it? Any chance of the amount of characters allowed in PMs being increased?

I have a hunch you'll be told to take the big ones to e-mail or IM.

Sounds likely, yeah.
The PM system isn't really designed to be used as a between-members email account. If a significant number of people decided to use it as such, the forums would creak and groan under the weight.
If extensive communication is necessary, email is your best bet.

Okay, just thought I'd ask. :)

Solution: stop cybering on the forums!

But baby, until the day we meet again, how else can we communicate?
