Well, I just asked both Gingerbread and David to change my name. Neither one has replied (it's been weeks since I asked David), so I assumed that the messanging thing was broken (as well as David's e-mail).
However, if they have to consider name changes (odd), then that may be the case.
Have either of you gotten my messages and e-mails? How about my picture, David? By the way, feel free to not upload that picture. It's not a very good one. I just felt odd looking at my old picture whenever I browse the album, because I haven't shaved my head for a year and a bit.

As for name changes in general, we're sort of considering our position on them as we've received quite a large (more than 10!) requests in the last month or so, and most of them for no particular reason.
I'm less in favour of name changes than you might think, but that is because it can confuse things quite a bit. Quotes in threads suddenly belong to "different" people and those who no longer exist, I forget who's who and other wonderful reasons.
My own personal way of trying to decide who does and doesn't get a name change is pretty much this:
<ul><li>If it is a small chage. (didou 01 -> didou, Stitch666 -> Stitch)</li><li>If it is similar, like Jake's: jake the taffer -> Jakeyboy</li><li>If there is a good reason. This is the hardest one to do an example of as it is pretty much a case by case basis. "I don't like my nickname anymore" is not a good reason! ;)</li><ul>
