I think what everyone is getting at Biker, is that the internet works the same everywhere, and this info has been available online for a small fee for years and years. Americans are numb to this kind of thing anymore, so I think allowing it is the lesser of the evils.
I would disagree, I would like to think that the UK has and had more common sense where the internet is concerned.
The flipside of this free info is, that google is going one step further and providing ALL the info in ONE place (number/name/address/maplink) to all and sundry. Atm the average punter in the street dosent know how to access to all of that info by conventional means..
All said and done we have basic right to privacy, as usual a big corp has belligerently done something with out thinking about the ramifications.

It's a reverse phone book function and the guy spurts a "Think of the children" not even 1 minute into the video. I stopped right there.
Jesus Christ that kind of thing has been available for ages, but now it's on GOOGLE it's BAD? What the fuck? Oh yeah, it has a MAP.
Go hide in your basements with your shiny tinfoil hats.

Call me when you can find where I am via my cell phone (I assume you'll know the number by then).
That's been done, though admittedly only with temporary physical access to the phone.

As most of the other people said, reverse phone lookup has been a feature of most online phone books for a while (it's in canada411.ca for example). If you worry about people knowing who you are from your phone number, get an unlisted number... or as mentioned in the video, add yourself as an exception to the web site in question, if possible.

My point is that this information has been available on anywho.com and other sites for nearly a decade.
Also, what kind of half-ass stalkers and identity thieves do you guys get? If someone simply gives up because all the information isn't "together in one place" then I wouldn't worry too much about him. I want a stalker/identity thief who will at least exert a little effort, dammit!
