Privacy Warning: Google publishing private phone numbers and addresses. - by bikerdude

Punched in my phone number, wasn't able to pull up anything without purchasing a "report" from some company. Not sure if I want to spend $4.95 to find out if my private phone number and info are still oh-so-private. Not that anyone calls me!
I could disappear off the face of this earth if I wanted to. I could find almost anyone as well. It's all in how important you deem it to be.

Dude, you can find that stuff free online, and have been able to for the last decade.
but it isn't as prolific here in the UK as it is over there in the US where privacy is being constantly eroded.

What the hell is wrong with you? There is not reason why this should be in Thief Gen.
I and a lot of people don't frequent comm chat (for obvious reasons), the idea was to let make them aware of this problem as well.

I think what everyone is getting at Biker, is that the internet works the same everywhere, and this info has been available online for a small fee for years and years. Google is only making it free, meaning the only people who now have access to it are the ones who before couldn't afford $5 for the report. You're right though - Americans are numb to this kind of thing anymore, but restricting this info on the internet smacks of regulating the internet, so I think allowing it is the lesser of the evils.

Is it because of Duck and Turtle? I've told them over and over that folks don't want to see their penises. It's off-putting. :tsktsk:

Yeah, but you know it's going to get moved anyway, so why bother?

Well, mine isn't on there but I can't really see what the big deal is. Fucked up people are going to do fucked up things, its a sad fact of life. If someone wants to rape your kid, this isn't going to make it that much easier.
Call me when you can find where I am via my cell phone (I assume you'll know the number by then).

The telemarketer calls make me feel more popular than I really am, so do the ones where I pick up and just hear a mans deep breathing, saying "I'm coming to find you...*click*". The latter especially.
My parents don't even try to find me. They're still hoping I'll get lost.
