I don't post much here but I do visit to read the latest posts often-ish still.
I started Prey about a year ago. Played about 5 hours and it wasn't doing much for me.
I left it, thought maybe I'll come back to it another time, and went on playing other games.
The other night I did exactly that. Within seconds I came across one of the typhons (had to look that up just now as I'd forgot what they were called). This wasn't one of the small variants you get when you first come across them. I died about 5 times trying to kill it and thought this is no good. Obviously I'd forgot everything that I'd learnt a year ago.
I uninstalled it and deleted my saves but still kept the installer. Maybe I'll give it another go one day.

Typical comment from you. I'll go back to the norm, lurking and ignoring your comments.

It did seem like a lame excuse to quit a game. Maybe avoid things you're not strong enough to kill yet?

I don't think you're meant to kill everything when you first encounter it, at least not on the highest difficulty. I'm pretty sure I left even the first Phantom alone in the lobby the first time I played it, just because I didn't have the gear to kill more than mimics.

Prey 2017 is a spiritual successor to System Shock 2. In Shock games enemies are sponges until you've researched them, remember? It's part of the player's progression.
