I'd definitely say they're the weakest part of the game, in particular everything surrounding Dahl; the combat operators are right little hateful fuckers and IMO they don't bring anything particularly interesting to the table. I also think that the game suffers from too many endings, each escalating on the previous one without really changing things up in interesting ways. However, I had heard that the ending had, well, problems, and I was expecting much, much worse, so I didn't outright hate it. I just thought that almost everything that came before was better.

Hmm, yes, that enemy type was indeed annoying. I actually stopped and did a google search to see if there was a way to stop the dispensers from spawning new units, and the solution was so obvious I felt bad for not thinking of it: just stack a bunch of shit in front of them!

I dunno, I played on Nightmare or whatever the highest difficulty was and the operators I couldn't sneak around (or run around, as was often the case) were pretty easily dispatched with the stun gun, which is AFAIK the only thing they're weak to. They respawn so fast you're better off just avoiding them imo.

Yeah. Plus, I couldn't manage to stack things fast/efficiently enough for it to work out properly.

I also played on nightmare except I would throw the emp grenades at them and then hack them so they would be on my side which was nice since the turrets were pretty much useless at this point of the game (at least on nightmare).

As I mentioned earlier my game bugged out and I stopped getting Disruptor batteries. I just used the same tactic I used on pretty much everything, which was Combat Focus + intense shotgunning/wrench-whacking.

When the Dahl thing happened, I thought I was safe because I had a fully upgraded disruptor stun gun and tons of ammo.
Fifteen minutes later, I had a fully upgraded disruptor stun gun. I guess I could've thrown it at the operators.

Did anyone play the PS4 version? On Amazon UK that seems to be half the price of the PC version, which seems unusual. Are the digital download prices more in line?

I played the PS4 version and had no issues whatsoever. I still think that it would be better on PC though insofar as using a mouse and keyboard and not having to use the item wheel.

There are also some nice mods for the PC version: (
https://www.nexusmods.com/prey2017/mods/searchresults/?src_cat=2) Prey Mods at Nexus.
I played with the following installed:
* No Crouch Vignette
* No Buttons (no crouch/sneak/climb prompts)
* No Loot Glint (I'm not as anti-loot glint as some, but it really isn't necessary in this game)
* No Objective Markers (you can still toggle this on for finding people)
* JRavens_Hardcore_Traumas - Adds additional traumas the developers removed from the game because they made the game too "hard" for playtesters... allegedly. It does make the game a little more difficult in parts, because you can't just magically heal broken legs by swallowing something.... you have to fix them with a med bot. Honestly if something like that happened and I was far from a med bot, I just reloaded. :cheeky:
* JRavens_Immersion_MENU_Enhancements_v2 (adds menu options for disabling motion blur and toggling the hud on and off)
If you hate the hacking minigame, there's an "easy hacking mod" that basically eliminates the minigame. I hated the hacking minigame, but the mod made it too easy. It just felt like a cheat, so I learned to tolerate the hacking.
I think some of these mods were sub-mods (it's been a few months now, so I can't remember which...). Basically, you'll see mods like "Immersion Mod" and "Survival Mod", which are really mod compilations. You can download them, then pick and choose which sub-mods you want to use rather than install them all.
Don't install the Traumas if you're in the middle of a game, as it will corrupt your save. The others should be safe, though. But make sure you read the readmes just in case. Things may have changed since I downloaded and installed them.
They're super easy to install and uninstall if you want. Just drop the zips (.pak files) in the following directory:
...\steamapps\common\Prey\GameSDK\Precache
Remove the file from there to unininstall.
I think most of these should be automatic installs for most experienced TTLG players.
I suppose I should have posted this earlier. :o:  Sorry!
