Of course it's not dead. Rocksbourg 4 is on hold as I've been essentially working on Rocksbourg 0, a prequel split in 2 missions. The first mission will be released this year.
Btw, I thought I could release it early this year, but unfortunately IRL keeps getting in the way. I'll definitely release it this year as it's close to completion, but I don't know when. Hopefully around march/april.
Wow I did not know you were working on other stuff, I dont frequent this site too much. I just bookmarked this thread years ago awaiting the map. Well good to know you havent been missing in action, I will now look up the other thread(s) and bookmark as well. This is most joyous news for me! Something fun to look forward to this year.

Thanks, I tried A Better Tomorrow out and indeed it has the same nice city design and quality as Rocksbourg. Very intricately made streets and tight places to explore from underground to attics/rooftop locations. I do say this is what I like about the original Thief games the most, the city levels where you can explore in such a fashion. I liked the new Thief quite a bit but what if, just what if they made the levels more explorable like original Thief? And for gods sake if they kept the rope arrowing possible to anywhere. How often do you find wooden beams to rope to in Thief games anyway? Not often. I hate how they simplified it in the new game for console dummies where you can only rope to very obvious pillars. Ive suggested it on the game's Steam forums already (for a possible sequel), as well as if they could bring back some monsters from the original game like Haunts, the giant spiders, some of the pagan creatures like the Tree monster and perhaps one of the freak/bug creatures, and might as well do some elemental enemies like the floating fireballs, they were great. I find it so lame how modern games must be "so realistic" which automatically means no monsters, only human enemies. Ya we had some kind of zombie creatures in the game but they were pretty lame. Anyway each time I play original Thief i get reminded how much better games were back then. One thing I will say though is the new Thief at least did get the graphics, atmosphere, the tone of a medieval city in the Thief series pretty much right, they brought it up to modern visual standards. Now if they can just work on the gameplay, how hard is it to look back to these games and see what made them work so well, and just copy it. Anyway looking forward to next Rocksbourg.

Currently, Rocksbourg 0 (a prequel) is close to being published, AFAIK. Maybe Rocksbourg 4 will follow later on.
8 years later now :sly:
But Thief never dies!

It is a shame. I hope he eventually gets back to it, or at the very least releases it as an unfinished project (much like CoSaS). The screenshots look fabulous!
