Looks like a great screen.. Personally, i don't bother with things like TDM myself.. If i wanna play Doom, i get out my old Depths of Doom trilogy boxset and play it.. If i want to play thief, well, i get out thief.. but that's more just my view..

Like with alot of games, they are purely there to make money. If they feel the best way is to reinvent the series, then they will do that. If people start ranting on how the creators 'owe' you something.. then that's just being stupid.. Main reason i mostly play old games these days, cause i enjoy the old games and i'm happy with them.

By that rationale, TDS can be nothing more than Unreal Tournament because it's built on unreal. I guess that means System Shock 2 is just Thief since it shared some engine code there as well? :wot:
Explain to me why TDM is Doom, please.

Anyway, that's both good & bad news, DrK. We can only hope inspiration, nostalgia and stuff can bring you to finishing at least the 4th part. Maybe you can make 5th and 6th part on T4 or if that's not moddable - TDM. :D

I wonder if there's this perception for some taffers (probably people who only come to forums once every other month or something) that TDM is some jacked up, action-based version of Thief, simply because it uses Doom 3. Otherwise, how do you make sense of an idiotic comment like the above?

I would love to try TDM fms but my computer specs won't play ball.
Despite intense disappointment regarding Rocksbourg 4 and any other future DrK fms or lack thereof, there's not much point in doing something if you're not enjoying it any more. It's just a chore. Besides, I expect we'll all survive . . . possibly. :( :D

I'll chime in and say, (and I agree with the others,) if you have no clue about TDM please don't spout utter non-sense of the game you surely have no clue on.
DrK, do what you can when you can. Someday you can give Dark Radiant a try, knowing you, you'll suck it down and learn it in no time, and create to your hearts content. ;) (and much faster)

erm.. did i just declare open season on me? I made a comment and said that is just my view. I see nothing wrong with stating a view if you don't pretend that it is really a fact, or a widely held view.. i didn't say it was.. I just said it was my view.. why must the vocal crowds go with a 'his view is different, kill him' attitude? I know about TDM. I've been messing around with code for long enough to know what you can turn some engines into. Since I'm already getting moan at over this, if i say i prefer to make my own engines tailored to my own needs, will that get alot of flames shot at me?
I used to know a guy that used the Doom engine to make a 3D platformer.. good work too. Wouldn't have been my choice though. Back in the 90s, in my doom days, someone made a nice looking 'Doom Racing game'. nice, but If i wanted to play a racing game, i would just get out a racing game. I never said anything against the fact nor did i say anything for it. I simple stated that i preferred playing a game that is the style the engine was more designed for. I feel (please notice that i am giving what is MY view, no-one else's and i don't like to lie and say 'i think everyone would agree' and stuff like that, cause I'm often one that doesn't agree with a person then they say that) that using a tailored engine can often give the best results. Anyone that is a fellow programmer disagree with that? I would welcome the chat as along as they don't go into it head strong. Though i don't think this is the right place for it and i think it's probably casing a bit of a dark shadow over the project and work of a good designer.
I'm also, a little upset at how and in some cases, who have started to attack me for having my own view... Sadly, it's one reason why i agree with the idea 'never meet your heroes'.. I know tons of people i look up to that have views I don't agree with.. Doesn't really change much but can be a bit jarring.... like when i found out one guy was rascist.. someone that enjoys stuff that shows all different people getting along no-matter there background and bred etc, was rascist.. weird..
So if anyone else wants to attack me or carry this on in such a way, want to take it to another place so as not to distract from the topic at hand.. just PM me with the topic url so i can see how it goes.

We weren't attacking you PERSONALLY, we were discussing your warped opinion of TDM, big difference. You're ill informed is all. How can you judge a game YOU HAVE NEVER PLAYED, Oh but you've messed around with the engine? Come on, and you still say its DOOM. Its not. Have you actually played the game? Don't make this personal, go try the game and find out for yourself. If you like it great, if not, thats your opinion, at least you will have tried it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, just give a better reason than what you did, comparing it to DOOM is ridiculous.
