Well, f.e. both Fallout 1 and 2 have had "children-free" versions for sale on European market. They were released "just in case..." it would interfere with laws of few European countries. You were able to kill children in Fallouts (and receive shameful 'childkiller" label for it), but don't forget that Fs were just isometric 2D games, in 256 colors, 640x680 where "a kid" was just a smudge of few pixels on the screen.
In DX you can assume position of a potentional childkiller and kill a kid in first person view. And the kid looks so realistic in current 3D graphics.
Ugh, perhaps I sound way too moralistic, that's not me. The opportunity just scares me. Killing in games is more realistic by each new year....

I killed Louis "brat" Pang countless times because I didn't like the way the little schmuck talked to me, I hope they won't do like NOLF and prevent me from killing anyone I want if I'm in a bad mood (or just feels like it).
As long as I have to face the consequences, that is. Of course.

It seems to me like the more realistic the death the better. If you have a real looking death where there is blood and gore than that reenforces the severity of death. If you just shoot someone and the end up on the ground without sign of pain or blood that makes killing seem easy.

Nobody seems to go to the DX2 forum because nobody seems to go there. It's a traditional vicious circle, one which I'm hoping moving this thread and leaving a redirect will begin to solve.
The DX2 forum will be popular and useful as long as people start using it. Trouble is, as is obvious, you can post all kinds of things in there and people won't necessarily find them. With any luck a redirect will help break through that inertia.
Some pretty interesting things in that article, for sure. The dynamic lighting sounds especially tasty.

Beloved characters from the first game, like Tracer Tong, return (showing noticeable age), and look simply lifelike
YES!

Of course there were also school girls and the starving boy in Battery Park.
I mean, there are prostitutes, homeless people, vulnerable drug addicts, animals and yes, children. I don't see shooting a child in DX (especially Louis Pan), to be any worse then shooting any of the others. To be honest shooting any of the above in cold blood isn't "right", but then it's a computer game isn't it?
How many of us haven't taken a wee swipe at any of the above in DX? :ebil:
It's just another facet of the morality of DX in my opinion, and to remove the opportunity to shoot, or not too shoot, who you wish, is quite simply wrong.
If I wanted to play a nice safe squeaky clean game I would go out, but myself a Nintendo and play Mario Sunshine...

Okay, I've shot few bums ever intentionally, I have screved the metro hostage rescue once just to get "OMG!" lines from jacobson and Paul, I have even killed that annoying hooker Ling few times, but always I've had a strange feeling in my stomach after that.
And wherever the aiming cross blinks over a model of a little boy, something in the back of my brain blocks me. Technically I would be able to click the mouse and "force the model to lie to the ground" and watch the pretty red decal under the model, thinking to myself "HARHARHAR, this is just a GAME, not a real world!" But that wouldn't make me more comfortable.

Hey BR796164
Dont think about playing Postal 2 then, if killing inocents in games upsets you, I personally dont care about the whole killing (or mutilating :ebil: ) anyone in a game. Who cares just reload the level and they will be back to life!!!:cheeky:

It wasn't much of a problem for me to lay out few grannies with my motorbike in old Road Rash back when I was 17...:ebil:

Killing innocents is a major issue with me, usually. I might try it once or twice the first time I try the game, but I usually get disgusted, reload, and try not to permanently harm anyone - including terrorists or bad guys. I love the prod and baton and especially the tranquiliser darts. MJ12...I try to avoid. If I have to, they get the biscuit. All robots are avoided first, then destroyed if no other choice is available.
