yes the 9200 is the same generation
And after you have un-installed a device, upon reboot windows will ALWAYS try to re-detect said device.

Ok - It's now back up again so I'll try downloading.
Thank you.
This is not my day. TTLG keeps throwing me out on this pc.
I got the wizard on the 2nd time of asking but I can't install the drivers it gives me this message:
Setup did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system.
I'll now try an earlier driver, I guess?
Installed 6. something which I think is newer than the one I had. It asked me to install .NET and then installed itself anyway. Tested Thief and that was fine and 3 minutes later it clicked off. Chqdisk found some files for the first time but nothing important. I guess I'll have to try finding another card. Or perhaps seeing what happens with no drivers installed.
Well no drivers installed doesn't work either. I haven't got another card so think my thiefy days are over for a while.
I wondered why uninstalling the drivers causes all my forum passwords to disappear.

Double posting just for cleanliness of thought.
Monitor has stayed on for 36 hours uninterrupted with the drivers uninstalled for a second time. I've now installed 6.5, the third I've tried, and these installed without any messages or hiccups.
So I'm holding my breath to see what happens now.

Bikerdude: Might you know the best drivers for an ati 9800 PRO 128 MB AGP card on Windows XP sp 3? If so, thanks! If not, no biggie, just wondering. I have had a few performance issues w/the last few official ati drivers.

Oi! You, gunsmoke - get your own thread. :joke:
If biker doesn't know then I'll probably need to be eating a hat or something equally tasty.
As to my monitor - I'm now into 6 hours with these drivers without problem, so I'm just going to leave it on tonight and keep my fingers crossed.

But I ain't running those biker - they won't install. I'm currently on a 6.5 lot and, as I said, the monitor's been on for nearly 7 hours now.

Thanks, I'll give them a shot.

The recommended drivers are working much better than any I have used in recent memory. Thank you. The performance is noticeably better, especially in Area 51, Splinter Cell, and Max Payne 2.

Well I did try the 6.11 but they had the odd .NET installation message. My monitor seems to be happy again so my conclusion is that it needed a bit of R & R without drivers before installing the new, 6.5 ones. And a few cups of coffee in between.
