Well I just got my game loaded it up and played really late ;) So I have a question, I have all these ingredients and potions, like Flin, that have a pretty serious value, but no description, just darn '?'. Some have more than one '?'. how do I determine what the '?' mean? I am trying to conserve space and weight and if I can sell them then I will. Also anyone know a site that has all of the itmes for Morrowind up in some database? I just went to most of the maintream ones and nothing yet, anywhere. Anywho, thanks ahead of time. Peace.

As your Alchemy score goes up, those question marks in the description for natural substances will begin to disappear.

Can I use these potions though, or are they just ingredients for alchemy? I have an Exclusive Restore Intelligence with a '?' - does this mean it is only an ingredient or does the restore as well? Thanks btw Zaphod ;)

Try to drink/eat the stuff. (pick it up then drop it on your character)
That way you can see if you need alchemy for it.

That way you can see if you need alchemy for it. Thanks Tuco, but I guess there is no other way? Like an identify spell or a person you can pay to do that? The reason I ask is what if it's rare or something like that?

If you dont want to eat it, wait until your Intel lvl goes up. As Alchemy is dependent on your Intel you will beable to ID the " unknown " part of the ingrendent.
Or you can sorta cheat by going into the editor and looking up the ingredent for the effects. :)
Hope this helps :)

Hope this helps :) My INT is 40 and my alchemy is 5 - so I think that I am going to have to start mowing down ;) But thanks for making this clearer - yet another skill to work on - sheesh don't you just hate well written and intricate games? ;) Peace.

:D My intel is only 49 and ive only just managed to uncover the 3rd "part/effect" of crab meat :)
I may be wrong but i thinks its the late 50`s when you can uncover all parts/effects :(
