Posting attachments... - by Keeper Jonas

Is posting attachments just against the rules here, people seem to do it all the time, what is the acceptable way? I ain't no web junkie with one of five websites that people can go and visit.
On the other hand it is time I started showing people instead of trying to tell. I have whole photo albums of Thief Insanity thanks to FRAPS and it would really suck if I can't post them here, is there a REASONABLE and safe way I can get the pictures to this site, preferably without having to open my hard drive to the internet?
Thanks, -Keeper Jonas.

You cannot attach images to your posts as you can on some forums. Unfortunately we don't have the bandwidth to spare to do that.
You can upload use a free service like (
http://www.imageshack.us/) Imageshack to host your pictures for free and then you can post them on the forums!
The only thing I ask is that you don't embed images greater than 640x480, you can link to those instead.

I thought attachments were banned cos you can attach viruses.

Nope, the types of file that can be attached to posts can be limited via the forum settings.

I suppose you can attach viruses to almost any kind of files though... :)
Still, no attachments on TTLG is the best way in my opinion to keep the bandwidth usage low enough. You guys are doing a grand job here, keep it up! :thumb:
Are there any new features (that we haven't seen here before) that you've been thinking of 'installing'? Just wondering like...

That's true, but that isn't the reason we don't allow attachments. This is the Internet after all, a link would suffice! ;)
As for your second point there are no plans to activate or install new features at this time.

How about the previewing threads feature where the first sentence or two pops up when you put your mouse cursor over the thread?
