I may be simply going nuts, but...
I keep hearing random noises as I trek through the lands of Vvardenfell (okay, here's another question: Vvardenfell = the island and surrounding small blips of land on which Morrowind takes place, and Morrowind is the mainland that is never seen, right?), I keep hearing equip/unequip sounds at totally random times. What's up with this? Items surely can't be deteriorating and falling apart - I've been keeping an eye on this. I hear rings, clothing, and armor all make unequip/equip sounds even though I haven't been DOING anything.
Maybe I'm missing something obvious?

Dunno wtf you're talkin' about Ebony, so I wouldn't worry about it.
Obviously you might want to get cautious if you find certain items missing, but I think it's just a sound bug.
If you are meticulously obsesive, try doing something that's a waste of time like re-installing MW, or messing with your sound drivers.

This isn't happening in the Swamp regions is it? it happened to me once but resolved itself, and you aren't thinking of the Bitter coast plug-in are you? try disabling it.

Just had a thought re: this... it might be a NPC equipping its stuff in a non-standard way, which bugs and lets you hear the sound (in the same way that you hear the sound when a slave "drops" his bracer as if you'd dropped it)

I get this too...I'll be wandering out in the middle of nowhere and out of the blue I'll hear a sound like someone is equipping medium armor or something, but noone is around me when it happens....freaks me out alot.
Edit: Btw I've had this happen even since I got the game...way before the patch.

When I level, when I am walking around, while I'm attacking people sometimes. All the time. If you are running the new patch then I dont know whats going on.However the new patch list in its fixables the bug that would make sounds from a previous area carry through to the one you are now active in this could be what you are experiencing!

Maybe I'm missing something obvious? Vvardenfell is the main island which you start on. Morrowind is at the start of the game an imperial province, but originally it was the dunmer lands and Vvardenfell is within the borders.
The equip sounds you are hearing are probably enchanted items that have recharged fully, they are supposed to do that.

This would coincide with the fact that it happens often after sleeping :D Thanks for answering both of my questions. (I have a LOT of enchanted items. No wonder it happens so often)
