Yep, went right up to edges. Never fell down. Seriously, it's not that hard. A few taps of the strafe button and away you go, turning on a dime.
No need for "few taps". Just switch to 3rd person and back to 1st — and you have Garrett's legs magically centered. But still these quirks shouldn't be needed in the first place.

I just couldnt surrender my adoration of classic gaming long enough to actually "sneak" through these profoundly lacking environments with NuControl. I just ran as best I could, blindly butchering my way through, and yes, that surely includes any proximate peasants.
So, you just practically admitted that you were too impatient to learn the controls and play the game "properly". You know, even T1 and T2
really would have sucked (even more than Deadly Shadows, I would say) if you had just played them as "medieval FPS". All your opinions about TDS from now on are null and void, as far as I'm concerned.
But hey, luckily for you the new Thief game seems to be dumbed down for the impatient gamers such as you. :p

No, I said that I learned them in less than 10 seconds, yet felt so stupid with the tradeoff of 1st person movement performance, I realized my type of sneaking would be way too cumbersome to enjoy.

I would argue that Thief II: The Metal Age, again, plays as a surprisingly competent shooter. Try it sometime, especially in the later levels, there is so much potential carnage.

Like it matters? Deadly Shadow sunk to the bottom of the bog, and deservedly so!

Thanks for letting us know, b1skit. I have a question that someone could post if they wanted (I've got more than enough to do here). Is there going to be any humour in this Thief?

Looks like someone has you covered, nickie:

2) With all this doom and gloom, will there at least be a few glimmers of humor to break up the bleak looking atmosphere?

I remember Dishonored was pretty grim at points without so many light moments to counter that. So it's not a bad question.
Pyrian on 11/9/2013 at 00:31
Does messing with the AI count as a light moment? :cheeky:

I think Dishonoured really benefited from being grim all the way through though. By the end it had developed a really good atmosphere, especially in the DLC.
Thief was never that grim and there is a place for humour in it, so good question.
