I don't know about you, but I'm pretty interested in hearing about how new folks are finding nuThief.
Obviously I'm interested in the old guard too, 'cos that's my peer group - but I wouldn't necessarily weight their opinions too highly. Quite a few old Thief fans gave Dishonored's stealthing a hard time because it was different. But different isn't the same thing as bad.

I'm interested too, but it should have been a mix of old and new.

except for maybe Master Taffer, and even he's too young to be an old school, original Thief fan
I think I've seen a comment from Master Taffer that said he's been playing Thief since 1998.

Well, I think it's fairly safe to assume that someone called Master Taffer is a fan of Thief...

In this case it was though. I'm not saying Dishonored was a bad game - it wasn't - it was very good, but the stealth part of it left tons to be desired. Not a good system at all.

Oh, well if it's that easy, I'll just change my username to King Midas. :p

I never had the idea do dislike the movement controls in TDS before I read the complaints about it here. :erg:
All this establishes is that you are apparently incredibly unobservant.

Stealth options were very limited in Dishonored, not to mention that if you have a taffer soul and want to steal most goods, you have to deal with too many guards.

Rather that I might have a different approach to what to accept as "real" from a game's output and what throws me out of immersion. You wouldn't be pretentious enough to judge where the suspension of disbelief was appropriate and where not, would you? And shouldn't there be a relative pronoun in your sentence?

If we are talking about the broken movement in Deadly Shadow here, then yeah. To any seasoned Thief veteran, the movement was broken upon first inspection. If you were a newcomer to the series via Deadly, then I understand how you could have missed it, and ultimately glossed it over. I dont remember, Beleg, was Deadly your first Thief experience?

I liked it. Once you got your head round being basically visible, if not particularly noticeable at range, it felt entirely natural. Someone looking at you could see you. You had to leverage your speed, AI vision cones, distraction techniques, and the fact you could teleport to a rooftop on the other side of the street to avoid being seen.
