Hello!
After buying a new graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 3850) I have noticed massive slowdowns in Thied2 (FPS went down under 10). So I decided to install the newest Catalyst 9.5. But after installing, the problems become worse: I cannot play the game any longer. When I move the mouse over an menu item then it becomes very weird. Graphical errors appeared, but when I start the game, it crashes (after the loading process) and this error message appears

WinXP Home
Radeon HD3850
Catalyst 9.6
DDfix installed
Anybody else with problem and the 9.5 driver? Or is something other the reason why it wouldn't work?
Edit: Problem solved. No idea what's wrong with the version 9.5. But I installed Catalyst 9.3 and now it work's. Even the slowdowns are gone! :)

Its because the newer drivers aren't optimised for for the older cards...

Catalyst 9.6
Are you sure about 9.6? AFAIK, the most new version is 9.5 at this time. Maybe you're trying to use the beta version of 9.6?
BTW, ATI/AMD constantly releases so named Catalyst Hotfixes for every Catalyst version. Did you try to install one of them?

Oups.. my big mistake. :o Yes, i mean 9.5
Because the hotfixes: where can I find them?

Tried with the Catalyst 9.9 release and still no luck. If it doesn't crash in the menu, then it crashes during the loading process.
I discovered, that the problem are newer versions of ddfix, because with a original exe or with ddfix v1.1.1 the game will run fine.
It's very sad, that nobody longer works on ddfix :(

I think you shouldn't expect too much from the monthly Catalyst revisions. They are often optimized for the last Radeon generation only and only for the latest AAA-titles. So...you may choose the version that works fine with your favourite games and forget about the other versions.
BTW, what exactly bus is your graphics card made for: AGP or PCI-E? You see, there are different Catalyst versions exist for them (if you want to download fresh ones instead of 9.3) and if you have an AGP-version of Radeon HD 3850, you should download (
http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/CatalystAGPHotfix.aspx) this version.

No, I own a PCI-E version. I should keep the files for Catalyst 9.4 in a safe place, because not all servers will host them forever.

I encounter the same problem with radeon 4850 and catalyst 9.9
I`ve tried any possible combination with ddfix/compatibility mode etc but with no luck. Also without ddfix installed I still have the same problem.
So for now I returned to catalyst 8.12 which work fine.

Where I can find ddfix v1.1.1? Link, please.
