Now, this is not a majority problem solver, but for those of you who have an off-brand sound card/chip installed on your system with 7/Vista, then I hope that these 2 things can help. (

I already posted this (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117175&page=3) here, but seeing as how this discovery of mine was so brilliantly successful (for me, anyway), I thought I might post it here. Also, might I suggest a few things for those who can't hear things in SS2/T2 too clearly:
Go into cam.cfg, and change the master_volume and sfx_vol_3d commands to booleans 600 and 400 respectively, and set sfx_eax to 1. Also, it worked best for me, using A3D and Alchemy with T2, but was somewhat problematic with SS2. I've figured out the problem there, and have decided to use SS2 with just alchemy alone.
Thief gold is a bit harder to configure, seeing as it seemingly lacks the console commands to set 3d volume, as of what I've done, so far. I'll see if I can supply the above commands though.
Can anyone back this up? Anyone with Vista/7 and a non-audigy or non-x-fi card user.
