Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for a portable printer? I require one for off site work where I need to print out contracts and other documents (no need for fancy high resolution photos and whatnot). Cheap is good in this case as long as I can hook up my laptop and print at least a dozen or so pages before the power dies (of course not a problem where on-site power is found).
Any help is appreciated.

Dunno HOW portable you want. Does it need to be battery or USB powered? If not, what I do, is this: I have a really nice all-in-one @ home, and bought an HP 1000 ($30) for lugging around. It folds up to ~ the size of a loaf of bread and comes with a little carrying bag to boot. Weighs next to nothing, and ink is cheap.
I have to brag a bit, though. My truck has 2 110v sockets so, I can plug my laptop and my printer in on the go. I also have a built-in air compressor (a nice side effect of the Auto-Leveling System) with a cloth-wrapped 15' hose. I can pump up my tires for free, and it has the different tips for various inflatables (air mattresses, inner-tubes, footballs, etc.). Can't wait to take 'er camping.

Battery or USB powered would be nice, though plugging into a socket may not be so bad as I do not foresee a lot of printing at any one given time. I may simply go with a small cheap printer and see what happens.
And you have every right to brag about your truck.

Yeah, that's a truck worth bragging about.
