Now that, with the end of October, the UK has seen an end to its oddly mild weather, and we're now experiencing frost and people having to scrape their cars a second time to go out at 7.00pm, it's time to break out the porridge. No, not the Ronnie Barker comedy, I'm talking about the hot oaty cereal that Americans call 'oatmeal'. Almost as good as a radiator for getting warmed up in the morning. Now, porridge by itself isn't very interesting, so the question is this - what do you put on yours?
I've put the more obvious additives in a poll, because I'm curious, but partly I'm making this thread for new and unusual ideas, since I'll be eating a lot of this over the coming months, and having a bit of extra variety at my disposal would be handy.
Me, I generally either add milk and sugar, or a spoonful of (
http://www.lylesgoldensyrup.com) Lyle's Golden Syrup. I know some people add salt to theirs, but I've never been convinced by this.
/Sits back and waits for the Scottish TTLGers to complain that we Southerners know nothing of real porridge.
Or something.

Porridge with milk and sugar, baby. Yum. But yeah, total lack of cinammon options, like cinammon butter, or apples with cinammon.
