That's a problem with the respective media bodies being controversy courting idiots though isn't it? This is one of the many reasons I don't believe half of what is in the news these days.

Sensationalism at its worst. Whatever sells the newspapers/magazines, etc.

In this you would be correct, SE. Apparently he clarified twice that the quote did not reflect his personal views.
I need to try that myself I think - I could get away with murder.
Okay guys, this isn't me talking, but "you're all a bunch of argumentative bastards with the intelligence of woodlice, the attention span of goldfish and the debating skills of plywood".
Wow, yeah, I can see that makes a
real difference!

Sensationalism! Pope's comment didn't actually reflect his personal views but was referencing a work in a discussion on Holy War!
Idiocy! The Pope should have realised any comment he makes about Islam will get contorted and misquoted and he will appear to have offended an entire religion!
Inevitability! Stronts jumps at the chance to post anything showing a Pope in a negative light!
Honestly? I couldn't give two fucks what the old man said! :D

Well, quite. You expect major world leaders to be a bit more diplomatic, and a bit more aware.
If he's going to make a general criticism of religion for spreading faith through violence, surely he could find enough examples from Christianity's past? It's just a bit cheeky and hypocritical of him to use a quote that references Islam when his own faith is equally guilty of such things.

Sounds like Pope Benny has been taking lessons from GWB. :weird:
Naah, he still hasn't given anyone a backrub yet.
