Haha oh dear. Pope Benedict has managed to (
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/5349578.stm) offend millions of Muslims around the world by saying that Mohammed had brought the world only "evil and inhuman" things.
Does this man have a deathwish, or is he just trying to undo decades of reconciliatory work between the faiths? And why couldn't I think up a decent pun for the title of this thread? Answers on a postcard!

So, I'm neither muslim nor catholic, but I'm trying to figure out... why would a muslim cleric care what the pope says?
Seriously, if I belonged to either group I could enjoy a perfectly good day not knowing or caring what the other religion thought of me.

Someone should tell him he has to be a natural born citizen to run for the US presidency, all that Mohammed bashing will only get him so far.

I can't find the text of the speech anywhere (and the link from the BBC seems to go to some other speech) but wasn't he quoting someone else for effect? He wasn't
actually saying this was he?

In this you would be correct, SE. Apparently he clarified twice that the quote did not reflect his personal views.

The trouble is just saying it will get that particular news clip played repeatedly all across the arab world with the translations probably not clarifying what he meant.
