what the fuck, did you get banned for a year or something, Bebop?
Bebop on 20/4/2008 at 23:17
You're right. It's hard to make a difference in the scope you're thinking of. Especially when the populace is controlled by an irresponsible media. But, you can make a difference in your own community or your own circle of people, and if you do - then your community can maybe make a difference in your city, and then maybe you can make a difference in your politics by making sure the right people get into office. But nothing will change if you're waiting for things to change, and nothing will get done if you say you can't make a difference.
Well, back to the media. I'm watching Lou Dobbs and I can't stop thinking how hateful his program is. It's subversive and even sometimes explicitly xenophobic and especially anti-hispanic.
Oh, and I wasn't banned for a year. I've just been really busy.

yeah, everyone knows how enormous the UK is. :laff:
Yeah 60 million people.
I bet that many people went to your SCHOOL.
Dolt.

I'd like to note that Bebop is a prime example of what he preaches. I know him personally and straight out of college he volunteered for a political campaign (I wont mention which) and spent several months traveling as an organizer/supporter for the primaries. It takes a lot of dedication to leave your home town and sleep in other supporters houses and work tirelessly organizing people for a cause you believe in for no pay and no promise of success. I'm pretty proud of him for that, he went above and beyond and did something that I myself, despite how passionate I am about the issues, would not have committed to. It's people like him who change the world.
It's people like me who stay home and make babies. :joke:

First, I was just making a joke.
Second, The UK really isn't that big a country, either by population or land mass.
There are 36 million just in my state alone. So get over yourself. Dolt.

Your joke isn't funny though. It's rehash of US "humour" of the 90s about the UK being "little" and so unoriginal and dull. I've heard it about 100 times so you'll excuse if I don't react with good nature; I'm about as bored of it as a person can be.
I'm not talking about relative sizes. Your state has too many people in it. 10million people is too much to me. My issue is that there are so many people to serve that policies being popular has become so random, or caters to the lowest common denominator, that politicians are becoming less and less sensible and more and more self-centered and self-serving. It's almost impossible to serve the people now so what choice do they have?

I probably don't want to see the world decade from now.
