Koki robbed through the jungle, his knife between his teeth. He'd lost all his comrades in a plane crash near the Cambodian border but he didn't care. "I don't care." he said, emphasising this point.
He'd seen attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. And he'd watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. "I don't care." he said, thinking about nothing in particular.
While merrily shambling through some rice field he saw a bunch of kittens drowning in a river. But he didn't care. "Couldn't care less!" he yelled at the kittens. But the kittens were to busy drowning to listen to him. "Assholes." Koki stated and went on.
Koki suddenly fell into a deep mud filled hole. He knew he was going to die and thought about all the people he cared for. That was done quickly. He wished someone would have cared for him and started swearing loudly.
A peasant came by and saw Koki in the mud. "Do you need help?" he asked.
"No." Koki said. The peasant looked a bit confused at him. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah, fuck off." Koki screamed.
The peasant walked past shaking his head. In the evening he arrived at his village, then his home. He sat down by the fireplace and called his kids. He wanted to tell them about the strange man he'd found and left in a hole full of mud. He probably could tie this in with a little lecture about morals, he thought. But the kids were unwilling and didn't really listen. "If he didn't get any help he's probably dead by now." the peasant said eventually. "Who cares." answered one of the children and went out to play in the sun with the others.

It's like a ray of sunshine over a village at night.
Enlightening and a little funny at the same time.
