Disturbing the peace, according to Jonesy's quote. I doubt the police officers had any real intention of arresting him for anything until he started his tantrum.

that's exactly what I thought from watching it, it looks like they were just trying to remove him from the room and then he starts yelling WHY ARE YOU ARRESTING ME? OMG LOOK THEY ARE TRYING TO ARREST ME GUYS!
omg I agree with stitch:erm:

Andrew Meyer's website:
(
http://www.freewebs.com/newforum/bioandpersonalstories.htm)
Police report student told them: 'You didn't do anything wrong'.
(
http://www.starbanner.com/article/20070918/NEWS/70918007/1053/BREAKING_NEWS)
Meyer envisions himself a crusader... saving the planet from the mainstream media or shedding light on Bu$hitler's Illegal Warâ„¢. He pulls Jackass styled stunts at sporting events and restaurants and then brags about it on his web page.
This is just another Scott Beauchamp, he desperately wants a job with the NYT's but doesn't want to earn it through hard work, he just wants to waltz into a corner office, snort coke and fuck anything that walks.

Doesn't drunk driving harm other people though?
I don't see how flying a flag harms anyone.
Whyever not?
Because a national symbol is supposed to be something you have to respect, and not to walk all over it.
Yes drunk driving might harm others, and yet burning a national flag might hurt you if the cops hit you hard in the head.

"As (Meyer) was escorted down stairs (at the University Auditorium) with no cameras in sight, he remained quiet, but once the cameras made their way down stairs he started screaming and yelling again," Mallo wrote.
Mallo was one of two officers who actually rode in the vehicle as Meyer was escorted to the Alachua County jail, and she said said he told them during the ride: "I am not mad at you guys, you didn't do anything wrong, you were just trying to do your job," according to Mallo's account.
Mallo also wrote in her report that he asked, at one point, if cameras would be present at the jail."
(From Trappin's linked article)
Hopefully the officers had their recorders on and will release the audio to the press to reveal this guy to be the farce that he is, or seems to be for now at least.
Overzealous officers exist, but including absurd claims like this in a 'Police Brutality' thread (or staging protests for that matter) over such a weak account seems rather silly.

Aren't individuals entitled to decide what they will and won't respect? Isn't that what free speech is all about?

Not a completely neutral witness then.

Well you don't expect to be dragged away by cops in that situation do you. At least I don't.

Were I hollering my head off at a public function like that and causing a disruption, I'd fully expect to be escorted away. If I followed that up by fighting the cops, I'd expect to be arrested.

I wouldn't have described it as 'violently' resisting arrest, but just looking at the video the almost awkward air of the audience (lol) indicates the guy was probably a bit of a nut

Given at least two cops versions of the account versus one proven attention hound's version I'll gladly go with the officers. Look, it's not like the police don't cover each others asses when they shouldn't at times, but you can almost understand why when people are so eager believe this sort of shit when common sense suggests otherwise.
It goes without saying there are indeed incidents worthy of scrupulous accusation, just not this one.
