I'm open to the fact that the police could have been wrong in this instance, though I can see it both ways. Like I said, the media can twist it anyway they want to by including or omitting anything they choose.
However, the police do indeed have the right to ask for ID or at least to know who you are.

And your drivers license must be shown on request by a police officer whenever you are operating a motor vehicle.
In any case, I still think it's unwise to turn your back and shut the door in the cops face. Right or wrong, you may be getting yourself into a hassle you don't want, which may or may not get cleared up in court later. Personally, my time is better spent not sitting in some courthouse paying for some dang lawyers BMW.
Gee, after posting, I just realized how long ago this was. Dang, time is flying fast this year.

Well the article's say nothing about having to give the officer your ID, just your name. They can ASK for your ID but the only thing required by law, according to the article is your name.

Flying the flag upside down (when there is no emergency) is the same as yelling out "FIRE! HELP!" in a theater or restaurant if there is no fire.
Says who?

...........The flag should be lighted at all times, either by sunlight or by an appropriate light source.
The flag should be flown in fair weather, unless the flag is designed for inclement weather use.
The flag should never be dipped to any person or thing.
It is flown upside down only as a distress signal. ................

In the UK it is now quite normal for the police to use anti-terror legislation against peaceful protesters.

Or in Mozambique.
(
http://www.flagfocus.info/worldflags-large/flag-Mozambique-detail-lg.gif) Oh lol your AK is pointing at the GROUND man, what is UP with that?! No WONDER you is in distress! Mozzies have the best flag ever. It's like they don't get irony of having a 17 year civil war mostly fought with AKs (and the odd Stinger and with
THE best names for opposing parties) ruin the country and have HOE and AK POWER, both of which seem to be overshadowing the book, as the country symbols. I wish Japan would get on out some ninja stars and anime on their flag.
Back OT: Remind me where police have used anti-terror legislation against peaceful protesters in the UK Zach. Seriously, I can't remember.

What does that have to do with yelling fire in a crowded theater?

Oh, the one where the spokespeople couldn't help giggling like idiot children on Radio 4 when asked flat out if they were going to cause trouble/vandalise stuff? They flat out said they couldn't guarantee that their actions would be lawful. That protest was a trainwreck waiting to happen and people were arrested for a number of things not related to anti-terror laws. One can well imagine terrorist activity within these groups, unbeknown to the vanilla group members, because it'd be easy to hide/blend. Not that I'm saying there was any mind.

It really does not matter how you dress it up, the police were using anti-terror laws when there was no reason to think there was any threat of terrorism. They have done it a lot recently. I can post up more links if you like.
