I'd agree with Sulphur on the difficulty curve, but like him I also suck at physics games. Having said that, this is the henke game that I found the most approachable in that respect. And it's so damn affable!

Love the animated cutscene stuff; it's very reminiscent of Mike Judge's stuff.
As for what I think of the game, well, I've already told you on Steam henke, but I think you're a sadistic bastard who revels in trigerring OCD-like behaviour in his audience.
The decision to put the leaderboard at the end of every level was particularly malicious.

I played it for a half hour or so and will echo most of what's been said above. Love the art style and the tongue-in-cheek humour, the countdown beep getting faster each retry, and the way you automatically switch characters. I get the sense that mastering the controls would be very satisfying, but after 30 minutes I was still having trouble getting some basic pogo momentum. So a gentler difficulty slope would be welcome, or maybe a tweak to make the first pogo a bit easier? I found myself pressing the A button harder (as if that would do anything) because I wasn't always getting the amount of spring I expected. It does feel like a skill issue, not a gameplay problem, so I'm going to keep at it. Works great on Steam Deck, btw.

Thanks for the feedback, guys! I also got the note from a few other people this weekend that the bouncing didn't feel quite right, so today I made a few small adjustments to it and uploaded a new build.

If there's any feedback I have, I think a gentler difficulty slope would be welcome in the jump from the first few levels to the rest.
Was there a level in particular that felt like a difficulty spike?

Levels 4 and 5 felt a bit more difficult than I was expecting, with 4 being mostly because of the finicky steps more than anything else, and 5 being a circuit of rails and steps that was longer than any of the levels prior. I did finish 5 though much more easily than 4, so go figure.
I also noticed the change to the movement today. Certainly made it feel easier to get a grip on it, if that's what you were intending.

Good to hear it felt easier! Yeah 4, Stairs & Rails, might be perhaps a tad too hard. I should maybe get rid of the trash cans in the middle. 5 is a big level, but mostly downhill, so I think it's fine.
Regarding what I actually did to tweak the bounce today:
-improved sound effects and made them louder.
-when you hit the ground and have the jump button pressed there's a short slow-down to 60% speed, making it easier to release the button at the right time. This value was previously 80%. I think in the future I'll add an accessibility setting that lets you set it as low as 20%. There's also a Game Speed setting in the Game options, this'll get moved to an accessibility menu in the future. Setting any of these to be easier than the default disqualifies you from the online leaderboard, but you can progress normally through the game otherwise.

The first demo gameplay video has hit youtube!

And oh boy... it's... kinda painful to watch. Guy plays it like he thinks he's gonna DIE if he ever leans left. PLEASE LEAN LEFT DUUUUUUUUDE!
Thirith on 11/6/2024 at 06:53
Well, it's obvious what you need to do. If someone never, ever leans left, you need to have a 16-bit sample of your own voice, played loudly, going "PLEASE LEAN LEFT DUUUUUUUUDE!" If he doesn't have a heart attack, he'll remember forever.

New build feels good! It's still tricky, but for the most part it responded the way I expected. My entirely selfish request would be to lower it even more, but as is I feel like I could get better at it.
Also I just realized what the title of the game is. It pronounced "pogopple" (which reminds me of QWOP; seems appropriate) or is it "pogo people"?
Sulphur on 11/6/2024 at 15:45
It's obviously pogonounced pogopogopogopeepeel, Aja. It's so obvious even the dictionary agrees that it doesn't an entry; get with the pogoram!:mad:
