It probably won't suit your needs, but I bought the (

It has 5 ink tanks (three colours and two blacks - one for regular printing and one for 'photo' printing) and so far the print quality on letters etc seems to be very good indeed. If you're not going to print all that often then the low initial cost and (relatively) cheaper consumables may offset the higher per-page costs when set against a laser.

Oddly enough, I find that inkjets tend to be worse for occasional printing as the ink tends to dry out and leave me needing new ink cartridges before I really should.
So I got an HP LaserJet 1320 in 2005, which is a B&W laser which does duplexing. I have yet to replace the toner on it. So remember... toner may be expensive, but it lasts (both in time and # of print jobs)!

I've pretty much decided for a B&W only now, after some thought.
I just want good quality B&W, no need for double sided printing.

Go with an HP LaserJet. They are dependable. I used to purchase all the hardware for a medium sized office. Several of the doctors wanted Brothers. Half of them were problems. We had 3 replacements within 3 months of purchase and a host of other problems. It's a crap shoot. If you get a good one it will last. If not, you will be replacing it. After that, no more Brothers.
We used mostly HP lasers and had very few problems with them. The biggest problem with an HP is that the rollers will need to be replaced before it wears out, but if you aren't printing high volume, then you won't have anything to worry about. I have an old 2100 - possibly 10 yrs old - that I use almost every day.
