I'm going to move this attempt (while I believe futile) to the Arx Gen.

Ooh yeah. Seeing what amazing things Troika have achieved with Bloodlines using Source, both in terms of graphics and in the context of an modern day crpg, it shows how flexible an engine it really is.
Vitali Kram on 21/2/2005 at 16:33
Disagree. Troika's application of Source is poorly. Huge memory consumption, low framerate in many places, long loading times, many gliteches, memory leaks. And, excuse me, but graphics in Bloodlines is very poor comparable to Half-Life and sometimes (with jerky animation) very similar to first DeusEx.
Who knows... is it Troika's fault or Valve specifics of new engine. Live eyes, expressive faces -- that is most contribution of Source.
But modern licensed engine (in our times) is more apropriate for Arx2 than in-house engine. But I really like unique lighting in original Arx engine. Nevertheless, I think modified Source may achieve same lightings.

The thing is... it has never been confirmed that Arkane is using Source for Arx 2. If you read the press release that came with this info it said that Arkane had liscened source for an "unnamed project".
Now we can assume with good certainty that this project is Arx 2. But it is not definite. Can anyone actually confirm that they are using Source for Arx 2?
twisty on 22/2/2005 at 23:22
No. To the best of my knowledge, no answer has been forthcoming. I can only presume that it will either be used to make Arx or something in the same vein.
Brodieman on 26/2/2005 at 22:39
I'm assuming Arx 2 becuase i want to.
Bloodlines used an old build of source and in fact it exhibits the same problems as HL2 in terms of stutter, graphics over fill and system memroy consumption rates except amplified - HL2 used a more optimised version from what i can tell. Anyway Troika has been shut down now so no more patches/support for Bloodlines and the loss of sensational RPG's with great stories, interesting chartacters and memorable events.. as well as a slew of minor bugs ;) Only Arx to lok forward to now especially seeing as how ES4 looks to be nerfed back into point and click gaming territory.
Bloodlines was by far the best RPG of recent years - exceptions - arcanum and arx.

Brodieman,
You're forgetting a big one: Gothic 3. Please tell me you know about the Gothic series. :)
