Brief introduction: Draxil, been a quiet member for quite a while, bought Arx (of course), love it, very frustrated with it.
That was fast. I find starting at the beginning to usually be the most logical course, so here I go.
1) I found the dragon by putzing around. Is this the right way to find him?
2) Crypt:
I went to the rebel camp after the Alia/King/Snake women cutscene. Much to my surprise, Alia was there; this struck me as odd as all the other snake women in the game seem to have cleared out. Sooo, I go to the king, and he doesn't seem to care at all. Keeps telling me to kill Akbaa. I go down to the crypts (again) and this time go past the shield level, and make it down through the maze, and to the room with the woman ghost. So my questions: a) is this right? Or is this a later quest that I got ahead of myself on. b) the room with the screaming woman--how do I get in there? I swear, if I ever do get in there I'm going to end her annoying wailing once and for all.
3)More Crypt:
Also, on that same level, I had picked up a shiny orb earlier on, off a corpse. I flew across the spikes (couldn't figure how to get them down) and found three more shiny orb-thingies in various sarcophagi. Only to discover that the one I found earlier had disappeared out of my inventory, and the corpse I picked it up off of was no longer there. Needless to say, this was irritating, as now I'll probably never know what was in that last tomb. Bug? Or my own idiocy?
4)Yet more crypt:
So, I go confront ol' one eye and say he's the murder, get the key, open his apartment, and confront Carlo. Who, incidentally, has to be the worst voice actor in the game. But I digress. Carlo--confrontation--he admits the conspiracy, blah blah, and disappears. I go to the king, and he's still nagging me about Akbaa. So I shove the book in his face, and he takes it, along with the notes, and whines about never forgiving Carlo and stuff again. And that's it--says case closed in my quest book, and I never talk to queenie again. Is this right?
I absolutely love this game--it reminds me so much of the old Ultima Underworld games. But the frustration factor is amazing...it wouldn't be so bad if it weren't so hellishly addictive.
Thanks for your patience and help.
1. The dragon is a useful source of advice throughout the game, and will also sell you an important quest item late in the game, provided you read the book "The Races of Arx".
(Its a she-dragon btw, according to the voice credits)
2a&4. Solve the murder before the reunion cutscene for a different ending to it.
2b. Hehehe...that woman isn't what you think she is. The lever to open the porticullis is hidden behind one of the coffins in a nearby room.
3. Use the first shiny orb in the crypts level 3 in the first room up the right staircase from the 9 sarcophagi. The one with the 2-pronged symbol on the floor. There is a panel on the back wall, which if you use the orb on it, becomes a lever to open a secret passage to the Edurnium outpost.
yeah later the ghost of the queen will come back and talk to you and stuff, since you solved the murdah.
AFAIK you can find the dragon and complete most of the quests in any order. only a few have to be done in certain order. and u can always go back to the dragon when a new quest requires it

Blast--forgot to check back here until too late. Just beat the game about 10 minutes ago, couldn't figure out a lot of what I wanted to. Oh well, replay value. :D
Thanks again for your help.
