The thing which really struck me about the game most though is that it feels like an RPG with none of the requisite stat-building. It seems the aptitude progression comes from finding better weapons and suits and becoming zone-savvy rather than tweaking stats. I'm sure this is not intentional on part of the developers, but I almost feel like it's me the player who is levelling up, rather than the more unrealistic notion of "gaining" strength, agility etc...
Yes, I have the exactly same feeling. No player stats in the game but it feels like it's there and I gain new levels with new armour, weapons, artifacts and knowledge.

The devs mentioned that they disliked how in 'classic' rpgs you start as some level one nobody who can barely take on a rat but by the end you're some godlike entity capable of kicking anythings arse. They said they wanted to focus more on the development of the players knowledge of the zone, skill with weapons etc than levelling up and getting another ten hit points and three strength or whatever.
In which case then, well done devs!
Better suit pretty much equates to more hitpoints.
I like the encumbrance / inventory thing too i.e. you get tired more easily with heavier load, but you can increase endurance with artifacts to lessen the effect etc..

I can run forever with my current artifact collection, except at 50.1+ kgs load.

What are you using at the moment?
I've got 2 lots of mama's beads, 1 slug, 1 ??? (2nd level electro artifact) and a ??? (3rd level burner artifact). I also have Battery 1 sat in my backpack for any electro infested areas.

I don't remember the names but I think 1xFlash, gives 72% endurance increase, and then 3x artifacts that give 36% increase each. (don't remember the name, maybe it was Moonlight)

Flash! (aaa-aaahh king of the impossible) That was the name of the artifact I have.
I think the others you have are called Sparklers.

Sparkler gives +36 endurance, Flash gives +72 and the third level artifacts always seem to give the sum of the first two, so moonlight gives +108. Two moonlights is enough to be able to always sprint since you actually regenerate stamina while sprinting with this. The only thing you can't do is bunny hop.
Damn ninjas...

Yeah, that could very well be. All those names are hard to remember. :o
Is Flash hard to get your hands over? I found it by accident somewhere in the Wild Territory I think, it is by far the most useful artifact for packrats (that I have encountered so far).

I had 2 at one point, but sold one as I was never using it. I find mama's beads x 2 plus Slug good for lessening the blow when dealing with 2 kinds of enemies, like in Yantar.

I just use cover to lessen the damage caused by enemies. :p
