Are you guys just annoyed by the headbob or does it make you motion-sick?
Head bob doesn't make me sick. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s does though cause it's not really a bob. It's a weird side to side thing I've never seen in any other game. It kinda does make me a little sick, yes. Though I haven't actually played long enough to become ill.

I see. It is strange but that side-to-side effect doesn't affect me at all. though a mod called Ballistic Weapons for Unreal Tournament 2004 made me so motion-sick that I had to lay down after playing it for just 10 minutes. And in that mod was only something called "drunk-aiming".

Get one of those motion sickness bands. They work by accupressure, and they actually work.I have seen tham in action on the boats (I'm a Mariner)

Thanks for the link, but it was the only time I had ever felt motion-sickness, I think it was just an isolated case since I turned off the drunk-aiming before playing again.

The only game that caused me something like "motion sickness" was old Wolf 3D.
This head bobbing as we see in Stalker was unusual in the beginning, but I quickly used to it.

I honestly didn't even notice that there was head bobbing... it doesn't make much of a difference to me. Probably because I don't like shooting on a run (except when I'm running backwards and using the shotgun to shoot dogs that are close to my feet).
Bjossi on 9/5/2007 at 11:15
The headbobbing is very visible when running while not shooting.

This game just gets better the more you play it.
Like others have said, the game "starts" once you've arrived at the bar.
There are so many great levels to this game and I think the a-life system is highly under-rated too, there are so many random occurrences that have all the finesse of scripted ones, the beauty being that you never know exactly what to expect. The only minor problem being that with the 1.0003 patch, it seems that the bandits get their asses handed to them on a regular basis now - all of their usual haunts seem empty and many of the "eliminate bandits" quests are now completed for me by someone before I get there. I guess their zergling pack mentality was most of what they had going for them.
The thing which really struck me about the game most though is that it feels like an RPG with none of the requisite stat-building. It seems the aptitude progression comes from finding better weapons and suits and becoming zone-savvy rather than tweaking stats. I'm sure this is not intentional on part of the developers, but I almost feel like it's me the player who is levelling up, rather than the more unrealistic notion of "gaining" strength, agility etc...
So many amazing moments - I'm sure this is one game that will keep playing over and over again. Easily one of the best games out there and is actually starting to live up to the hype in ways I never expected.
Also, getting your first gun with scope is a gret moment :D

The devs mentioned that they disliked how in 'classic' rpgs you start as some level one nobody who can barely take on a rat but by the end you're some godlike entity capable of kicking anythings arse. They said they wanted to focus more on the development of the players knowledge of the zone, skill with weapons etc than levelling up and getting another ten hit points and three strength or whatever.
Bjossi on 13/5/2007 at 01:30
Yeah, but I would have appreciated more hitpoints though. :p
