I seem to recall I had a very similar problem, I wanted to give a female AI a particular voice set (commoner5?) but it wouldn't do it. I wonder if you can only change the overall class (commoner_f) rather than which specific voice they use.

I saw that some of the stock characters have specific voices. Maybe it's just a matter of getting the syntax right?

I can see that the VoiceTag property is set a fair way up the inheritance tree for Guards (+Voice_guard_m) (T3AIPawnHumanCombat), yet the guards I've dropped in have different voices.
What does OneLinerTag do?
A female aristocrat has +Voice_noble_f, and the merchant female class
is +Voice_merchant_f, even though she talks incessantly about serving beer.
Incidentally, is there a good way of getting a list of all these? It would certainly be useful to have a reference page for it.
On another note, they don't seem to be running off for help as I jump around the room.
[edit]Ah, it seems the servants do. I left my (
http://scumble.net/thief/where_am_i.jpg) body in the corner of a hallway while flying around to see where she went to get help. I'm surprised they weren't shocked.

My newbie questions:
1. How do I teleport the camera to a given point in the orthogonal viewports?
.
Me too. Anyone?
Also, is it possible to resize the ortho/persp views or otherwise go into one particular view fullscreen? I'm used to Maya and it's annoying the heck out of me.
Are there anything like selection filters, offering the ability to, for instance, disallow clicking of smeshes if they're in the way? What about hiding bsp geometry or smeshes (similar in use to selection filters)?
Why do these GUIs have to be so arcane? :laff: It's especially annoying how one has to wiggle his mouse a bit in a particular view before trying to move something!

Tut tut, I answered it before - right click then Obsolete -> Align Cameras.

Check in the view menu under viewports.

We probably can't create groups or quick-select sets, right?

Well you can choose not to show smeshes (and other things) by right clicking on the icon bar and going into the view menu.

Ahh. Neat; only a slight annoyance that I have to have something selected. I prefer right-clicking over an empty space and teleporting cameras (at least in Maya).

Wow,
that's archaic. Yeah yeah, I know, they put together the thing for themselves, not a wide audience, but still...
At least I'll be able to resize them now!
Yeah, I did look at that right after posting the original message (if you were really quick on the draw you read my unedited post asking if we could group things together!).
This oughta make it at least a bit faster :thumb:.
And here's another (obvious, hopefully?) one: is there still no way to get non-3ds Max objects into T3Ed? That just sucks (could use some inspiration to get my hands dirtier with Maya) :p
EDIT: I added an entry for resizing/solo'ing view windows and teleporting the camera to the T3Ed Tips page of the Wiki, with "deadman (actually GlasWolf)" in the credits section (hey, I'm an honest man) ^_^
deadman.

None found, yet. If you can figure that one out (with any non-obsolete 3D app) you would be our hero! :cheeky:

That's misleading. I'm hoping for a plugin or exporter for Maya, really. I know someone's got to have the know-how, if it is at all possible to begin with. 3ds Max only offers a 30 day trial version, right? Maya definitely rocks in that regard; the "Personal Learning Edition" is a fully-functional version well-suited for us poorer taffers. Sadly, I hear 3ds Max is king when it comes to poly modelling (explaining why the Thief 3 team used it).
I guess all anyone can do right now is build something in whatever program they use, export it to a catch-all format, and pass it on to someone who
has Max and can do the required wizardry to it to get it into T3Ed, eh? It especially sucks with the engine's reliance on static meshes and eschewing of any complicated BSP geometry.
nomad of the pacific on 2/6/2006 at 05:38
Don't waste you're time with the Max 30 day trial version. The plugins that came with the editor only work with Max 5.1 which is long obsolete.
Shadowspawn is the only one I've heard about who's working on a way to crack the TIM files. He has a way to convert them into other formats, but as far as I know, he hasn't found a way to convert other formats into TIM.

Can I make an AI silent? Eg. guards not mumbling, haunts not making creepy noises and so on.
