ok thx for trying to help guys .
1: i have 2 complete installs 1 for playing thief and 1 for editing
2: i am using the t3 main exe which was originally called t3mainoptversion (anway the file that it tells you rename in the install instructions)
3: my game install is in C:\Program Files\Thief3 and my
editor is in C:\Thief3 edit
i do not use zone alarm i only use the xp bundled firewal whitch came in SP2
i have installed the launcher and directed it to both my game folder and edit folder as per the instrchtions ..i can start both the game and the editor from the launcher so no problem there
its just i cant get it to run anything i make in he editor i click on the joystick i get the samll dialogue box saving etc ?.....then that disapears and nothing i am left looking at my desktop scren ?..
even if i disable my firewall the result is the same
i have also made the firewall let thief3 and thief3 edit have access to net thru the firewall but to no avail.
maybe if someone could tell me exactly what to put in the firewall and which file excatly to guide it to and the port number...( the one i have used was 25501 or something ..got from other post on this site).
i feel it is something i am doing wrong in the firewal part wheter it being directing the firewall to wrong folder or file i do not know as i said the launcher allows me to run either evrytime with no problems ..very strange

This is normal - T3Ed usually does something after a few minutes of waiting. However, if nothing is happening no matter how long you wait, here's a few things to check:
Do you have a player start in the map you're trying to test? You need one to play it, it's in the Actor Class Browser under Marker -> Key Point -> Navigation Point -> PlayerStart
Also, T3Ed doesn't like maps that are just a single room. For some reason this makes it crash.
If it still isn't working, you might want to read the [wiki]T3EdTroubleshooting[/wiki] page at the Wiki

it happens even when i use a map from the game as in the tutorial ...... however since then i have tried using the send to xbox command ( from another eariler post in forums) after a bit of playing around i managed to get that to work ...so as long as i can use that, i can begin using the editor properly and will be able to check on my map ...but please keep on trying to solve the prob as i would like to use the editor in the correct manner if poss

Another question for you:
Did you install your game version of thief3 or your editor version first?
Maybe it's having problems with the registry entries on which version of the game it ought to run or something stupid like that.

How do I get Garretts mechanical eye to work?
scumble on 19/7/2005 at 11:28
If you simply want to know how to play the game, read the manual, or check your control settings. I'm not sure why you're asking this question in an editing forum.

No not in the game I need to know how to get the eye to work in my map like it does in the official maps.
Ziemanskye on 19/7/2005 at 13:38
It should anyway, once you put the level into the game.
Just normal controls (make sure your key-bindings in the editor version of the game are what you think they are).
It's an innate ability rather than an upgrade, so should always be available.

Thats weird it zooms in and out and plays the sound correctly but it doesn't have that night vision look.
