I dont have zonealarm. That was one of the things that the readme specifically said.
IT must be something else. I will probably end up reinstalling. :(

Incidently, how do you force snap to grid? I've tried but the BSPs just don't.

In Vertex Editing select just one vertex and right click on the little white square. Repeat.

I can open and use the editor quite easilly. I have no technical problems with the editor itself.
The problem comes when i want to playtest any map through the editor. It goes to the loading screen and gets stuck there. I havn't tried to playtest a mission from the command line yet. I guess i will try that next.

next dumb question for you then, cptnanarchy, did you remember to Export Map For Game? Turn off blockloading?

Not happening.
I select one corner of the brush with the vertext editing tool and right click on the white square and nothing happens. No menu, no snapping, nothing.
I'm trying to build terrain atm and without snapping it is going to take forever :(
Edit: Duh, found it. Wiki-ing now (why was it not in there already when scumble says in the wiki that it should be on?)
Edit2: So now I'm happy snapping the brushes, vertex editing them and getting some nice results. But if I move a vertex down my Radeon9800 chokes and I crash to restart. V odd.
Also, got to be careful with snap to grid as you can offset the brushes.
Edit3: It's the Radeon9800Pro brush builder bug!!! Gaaaah. Ok. Swtiching to wireframe... :)

Complete newbie when it comes to anything on the technical side of the Thief world, and I have a question, but not really in terms of fan missions or level editing.
I was just wondering if it's possible to insert into the game actual briefing movies, like those in TDP and TMA. What I mean is, if someone could create a briefing using the specific briefing sound file, and put it along to various artwork and images, like in the original games. Then, would it be possible to have it so when a player frobs the glyph to enter a level, that movie file would play first, then afterwords the Pre-Mission screen would load up.
Once again, I have no idea about ANY of this. But I guess that's why I posted it in this thread.

That should be possible, though I haven't got around to doing anything with it yet. The script would probably look something like this:
CONDITIONS:
When map starts, arriving from a different map
ACTIONS:
Play the [moviename.bik] bink file, allow interruption [TRUE] ?

I've been doing some terrain tests by building rooms 2048x2048 then paving them with 512x512 brushes with edited vertices to get uneven surfaces.
I get huge BSP holes with this method yet everything is snapped and lined up nicely.
In the wiki scumble posted "you should intersect a brush before subtracting it, and deintersect before adding" but if I do that I get some very odd artifacts like single sided sheets.
