Especially the 3DS Max guys haven't been around here for quite a while. If I were you I'd write PMs to e.g. Judith, Ziemanskye or nomad of the pacific (or something like that was his name, too lazy to search right now :p) and hope that they have e-mail notification still on.

After many expérimentations:
In fact i have solves the problem: i have put all plugins in the main folders of 3ds max (Standard MAX plug-ins=C:\3dsmax5\StdPlugs\ /// MAX plug-ins=C:\3dsmax5\plugins\). It's work now.

First of all, you should avoid spaces in T3 Editor install path, it can cause errors during some operations. Secondly, the 3dsmax plugin paths need to be put in particular loading order to work properly:
\Utility\Max\Plugins\HardwareShaders
\Utility\Max\Stdplugs
\Utility\Max\Plugins
\CONTENT\T3\MatLib
\CONTENT\T3\MatLib\DynamicallyLoaded
And, you have to copy DLLs from Utility\Max folder: msvcp71.dll, msvcr71.dll, binkw32.dll to 3dsmax main catalogue.

I have spent last night and all this morning trying to get it to work.
Fed up, I removed all the addons and reinstalled T3 from steam.
Used steam to backup my T3 game.
Copied my T3 install and renamed the folder so there are no spaces.
I now have two folders.
E:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\Thief Deadly Shadows
E:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\Thief3Ed
Both folders are vanilla.
This is the order I installed
1. game - works
2. Sneakyupgrade -works
3. T3ed - game no longer works
I followed Komag's tut also.
EDIT - oh my... i got a loading screen, but then a runtime error. The loading screen mentioned something about a missing quote.
Game DVD/CD/ISO is soooo much easier. I guess since I have a legal copy (Steam) of thief 3 Ill could just go install a cracked version from iso. (lost my original game disk, taffin thievin kids.)
Yes, I have paid for T3 twice. Once at retail price when it came out and then Steam for 4.99 the other day.

The Steam version is not much different from the DVD version. The only real difference is a Steam-ified version of T3.exe, which the editor installation will overwrite anyway.
If you haven't already, then I'd recommend installing the Sneaky Upgrade Editor Edition, which has a few minor improvements in addition to making the editor a bit easier to run.

Finally got the editor working from a separate directory and loaded my FM.... oh oh the glory of Ued, buggy as it is.
Thanks for your patches snobel.
EDIT:
Install the Editor for Steam version 1.1 of Thief-DS
These are the steps I took to get the editor to work.
If you have been playing the game for a while, back up your game saves first.
This is for a vanilla/clean install. Preferably you will delete the game content from your computer
and reinstall from steam. Do make sure that your game directory is deleted as well. Any files changed
by the user will not be deleted by steam.
1. Install from steam and start game to make sure it works.
2. Backup your steam game install by clicking steam in the top left of the steam app.
"Backup currently installed programs" should already be selected.
Follow the prompts. This will save you time and GB of data from downloading if you have
to reinstall the game.
3. Install John P's texture pack.
Copy your thief folder, BEFORE you install any Sneaky upgrades.
This way you keep the texture pack with the editor.
4. Follow Komag's Tutorial on setting up the editor but ignore #10, Install Thief 3 launcher.
5. Install Sneaky Upgrade Editor Edition (
www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=139684)
point it to the editor folder of T3 and install.
6. Install a fan mission loader of your choice.
You should now have a nice blue icon for the editor on your desktop.

Thank You Judith.
I have another question. The action "Change every zone that uses schema [string] for music or ambiance to use schema [String] instead" really work?
Judith on 18/6/2014 at 07:57
No problem.
I don't remember using that script, but If it doesn't work, you might try something else, like using Global Flags or Ints, so that switching them with a script would cause the sound schema change. I believe Tiens is our script expert, she might have a better insight on that.

I've made a landscape in Blender 2.72, and tried to export several versions of it as a .bin file for Thief I. However, I've had some problems with 3ds2bin, and just wanted to ask if anyone has worked with Blender, which can export 3ds Max and other program files. Is it easier to export files over to the Thief III format? I know Thief III uses .cfg, but what sort of file would a landscape be in the third installment?
Judith on 27/10/2014 at 21:23
Thief III uses .tim files which require 3dsmax 5.1 and a .tim exporter. The latter is a plugin shipped with T3Ed. You can make your model in Blender or any other program, but you'll have to import it in 3dsmax 5.1, and then export in a .tim format.
