I've added spikes to a room but when I jump on them, they do no damage. I tried adding various properties to them (health was one, I forget the others I tried) but to no avail. Are they just for show or can I set them to kill when you touch them?
Ziemanskye will no doubt be along to correct me shortly, but I think you want to make a volume around the spiked area that kills the player when they enter it. Look at the deep water volumes in the OMs for how to do this.

You can add a simple volume and then define the amount of damage in Stimulus. Problem is, only the default damage will work here.
If you'd want to use any other type of damage in the future, use volume plus scripts (in actions: apply x points of stimulus (type) to linked objects (Player)).

I'm not sure if that's a vote of confidence in me or of no-confidence in yourself...
But that's probably how I'd try to do it.
I think there might be a property you can put on things so that they just hurt when you touch them, but as far as I remember it's a bit erratic, like you'd have to jump up and down a *lot* to get a spike trap to kill you, because it was designed for things like the arrows.
I think the health property is for if you want to damage things, that's how much health the object has, and it's something like XStim for the damage-type it does to other things, but it's been a long time since I looked at that stuff (I've got 3 missions released, and 0 traps in them. I may have to do something about that...:ebil: )

Awesome, that'll help alot.
Thanks Judith.
Another question : is there a way to rotate static meshes other than Ctrl + RMB ? I'm trying to make a cave and getting the parts to align is a total nightmare. I can always see the seams.
If that is the only way, does anyone have any tips that would make it easier?
Thanks

I think it's mostly ctrl-rmb, but you can turn the angle grid on, and set it to a value you can work with (remember it's binary, not degrees or radias, so 16384= er, 90 degrees I think).
Other than that - build it square and at right angles off to the side of your level, then you can marquee select the lot (ctrl-alt left mouse and drag), deselect then reslect the one you want to pivot on (or right click on a grid point and say "Assign Pivot here") and then rotate into place.

Ok, thanks. I was just being dense and didn't notice the rotation grid toggle button.
Problem solved now:cool: :D

Hello everyone,
Does anyone know how to use mechanical eye zoom as a night vision? So that you can use zoom even when jumping, running, and attacking? I really would like a night visison.
Nothing wrong with brighness or monitor: I can see surroundings when brightness is at 7 or higher. I just like to play thief with brightness all down.
Please, anyone, help me.
Tony.

I tried using some of the static meshes by Ziemanskye but when I opened the SMesh browser none of them were in the list. Is there something else I should be doing other than unzipping and placing in the Static Mesh folder?
Thanks
