I hope someone can help me with this because it is really bugging me.
When I select certain items in the Actor browser I cannot place them in the game world by any means other than by replacing an already existing object with them.
For example I created the first room in my level and then wanted to place the player start point. I clicked on the "add player start here" as I would normaly, and nothing happened. The player start was nowhere to be found.
I solved the problem by creating a light and then replacing that with the player start, but to be quite honest having to do that annoys me alot.
The problem also seems to get worse over time. I managed to place a GenDoor into the world fine but after I reloaded my save this morning I can no longer place ANY door in the world without replacing an already existing item.
If I'm making a massive noob mistake please feel free to make fun, but please tell me how to fix it. (I have already re-installed thief3 and the editor to no avail)
Thanks

What mode are things in on the Unreal renderer?
If that's one wireframe or something (or if your placing objects on non-compiled surfaces) they have a nasy tendancy for appearing at the origin rather than where you click, so sometimes at somewhat erratic places throughout the level.

There's nothing to laugh at, it's quite annoying thing... I'm guessing that you tried placing objects in one of those ortographic views? Try putting something in your 3d view instead - click some bsp surface: wall, floor, etc. (not static mesh) and press RMB.

I had this problem before, but usually it works after a while. What is even more annyoing (I had it twice now I think) is that T3Ed somehow disables the RMB completely. You cannot save skins, but the error message when saving gets overridden. I cannot open a context menu then on the windows desktop, however, camera movements in T3Ed with RMB (like zooming etc.) work. Closing T3Ed solves the matter.
I guess these are just little annoyances (like the disappearing cursor, too) we have to live with. :erg:

Are you running dual core? I had this problem initially running on my dual core machines. After setting affinity, problem went away. If both processors are trying to do the same task, it ends up in a conflict that the software is incapable of handling.

Thanks all for replying, I will try out the things suggested. I do have a dual core processor. How do I set affinity?
Thanks.

Hey guys,
Gotta run to work; but, I have a problem with mapping.
I used flatten uvws to create my textures and started editing my textures; but, 3/4 the way through, I found a tiny part that is overlapped with another. If I attempt to move it and save my uvw file, the uv moves; but, the mapping doesn't change. I never got this involved with this stuff till now. So, I'm a little lost.
Thanks in advance.

Open task manager, go to processes, find your exe listed there and right-click it. Set affinity should be an option there if you're current, if not, you'll need to go to AMD's website and get the tools. I'll check back tomorrow after work; but, I'm running thin on time at the moment or I'd post the links for you.
Found a moment before walking out :)

I am sure this has been discussed before - maybe even a tutorial exits but I have searched and cannot find any help.
Its simple, I just want to create a new texture. This is what I tried:
* Found an existing texture in CONTENT\T3\Textures that I could never imagine using and opened it in Paint Shop Pro (I have the dds plugin).
* Painted it the way I wanted then saved it back to the same file.
* Opened T3Ed and importred all Mattlibs. There was my new texture - hooray!:D
* Applied the texture to a few walls as a test. Built it and noted that the texture looked exactly as I wanted in the 3D viewport.
Then entered the game and found that the texture looked just like it used to before I edited it!
Obviously I am missing something obvious but I cant work it out - any help?

You need to have your edited images in Textures and PCTextures folder as well.
