Ok- i figured it out finally...
In the Menu view- Advanced Option- i opened the register Editor and also Grid and set Enable grid from false to true.....so easy...
But I thought the grid is already on because I was able to see it in the 2D windows.
Anyway- thanks for help! :cheeky:

It´s me again- and I´m currently wasting time on the editor...
Is there another tutorial for thief 3 out there with more complex problems solved?
For example- some Static meshes I´ve built don´t cause any sound when Garrett walks on it... do I have to add this property? How?
And another thing is, that the light of the torches shine through the wall into the next room...
There are a lot of solutions in the Komag Tutorial to solve shadow and light problems (turn of cast shadows of surfaces or increase the shadowextrusiondistance of the torches....- but it´s still there). Is there a command to block all light that shines from one side on a surface?
Thanks again!

I haven't done any custom smesh works, but there is a tutorial in the (
http://www.ttlg.com/wiki/index.php?title=Custom_Static_Meshes) Wiki if you haven't already seen it.
Regarding lighting, I've only had the problem of light "leaking" with very large lights, such as chandeliers. With a wall torch, the shadow extrusion distance should be able to handle it. Make it something very large, like 2000, then shrink it down until it stops the spill and no more.
Using the radii view also helps - right click on the sub-window title bar (where it says Top/Side/Front - Top view is usually the most useful) and select Actors -> Radii View. When you select a light it'll show you a red circle to indicate its light radius. Change the radius in the light properties to be as small as possible while still achieving the lighting effect you're looking for.

Tutorials: you should check the wiki (
http://www.ttlg.com/wiki) http://www.ttlg.com/wiki and this thread with d'Spair's tutorial (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94410&page=3) http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94410&page=3
However, you won't find tutorials for everything... Most things you just figure out or ask around here...
For the lighting problems. If nothing that Komag said works ... :weird: you should try moving the lights, putting them a little bit further from corners doors etc. Plus, be sure to have everything aligned, in the right dimensions...
And Ziemanskye, putting the property Movement>Physics>Phys_None does work. Thanks!. Still, I haven't tried to see if they patrol normally...
EDIT: meh, didn't notice glaswolf posting before me...

The Light-Radius change worked, thanks!
And it is not a custom mesh work- it is the mesh GENbarrelrackrole which causes now sound when Garrett walks on it- but i would expect some wooden noises...too bad because it looks cool.
Anyway, I´ll read all these FAQ´s and tutorials and stop spamming for now.
Greetings!

Don't worry, this thread is for simple questions. It's getting a bit cumbersome though at nearly 50 pages...

Is there any way to get one character to simply follow another, such as a guard to follow (and protect) a Lord, or perhaps a rustmite to follow a Hammer Priest?

Ahh, I thought when you said you'd "built" it that you meant from scratch. Anyway, if it doesn't make a noise then you can surround it with InvisiWall smeshes and texture them with wood. The smeshes are still invisible in game but the noise will work.

Not to be a pooper, but those weapons don't really sound like they have much place in the Thief world. It's feature creep. Stick to the basics...no need for going overboard.

Was wondering . . . I've had a slight issue with the T3Ed . . . I noticed a post about this on Fleshworks that's similar . . .
When selecting lot's of textures, the editor crashes back to the desktop with a fairly long error message.
Running an ATI Radeo X700 PRO, with Catalyst 7.2;
probably cause is the ATI drivers, right? Any known work arounds, or is this just one of those "save, and save often" deals?
