It was mostly a graphics driver issue from what I remember, and then only with some chips, so it's unlikely to be the problem. The windows and virus-scanner auto-updates shouldn't be a problem (unless Window's own firewall has turned itself on - that might lead it to confusion and the other firewall problem, whatever it is, coming back)
I'd say clean the system out anyway, but that's mostly because I believe in doing that as regularly as possible.

Ok I'm still trying.
I was wroking away quite happily on my tutorial level after I'd deleted all the other maps in the folder (except the auto-save). It was going quite well until I opened the mesh folder at one point and it gave me a Viktoria error.
Unfortunately I've not been able to copy it (I thought I had,grr...). I clicked continue and everything seemed fine. I put in the stairs no problem.
But once I tried to reopen the mesh window it shut down, same problem as before. Its not the first time I've seen the Viktoria message, I believe its related to my problems. I'm going to see if I can get it copied but it doesn't show up every time. Just once, and then I cant really use that map anymore.
Does this still make u think it may be a problem with mycomputer? Or could it be a problem with T3Ed.

If it's the static mesh browser throwing Viktoria and more serious errors...
It could be either, but it'd make me more inclined to believe it's the editor - somewhere around here there was some tweak-things for the Smesh browser, so you could search them out and see if they solve the problem, otherwise I'd recommend entirely re-downloading the editor and starting over to see if that might solve the problem.
And if you can get us a copy of the viktoria error (just the bit at the top: we probably don't really need the whole thing) that might help narrow things down

Well I've redownloaded the Editor. But I'm not yet sure if its going to work because every time I try an open the editor (via the shortcut as the launcher works selectively) and it askes me to choose one of the CONTENT/T3/TagDatabases/Vocabularies .vcb files and says 'Find Sound Vocabulary.' None of the 3 .vcb files do anything except give me a Viktoria message (she's got it in for me) saying:
Error Message

Any thoughts?

That's the missing static meshes again - WepAiSword...
I think this is why I only use one game and editor install, rather than split.
Thiefs_Shadow on 9/8/2006 at 22:23
I deleted my download of T3Ed, redownloaded it, reinstalled Thief and copied it, and installed the editor, as well as making the right changes. The problem persists. (there goes my day off)
Bugger.
Ziemanskye on 9/8/2006 at 23:15
Next daft question - have you checked all the things we had you check before?
No spaces in directory path.
Correct registry entries (play game install once, then copy, then install editor over copy, then use loader switching thingy, I think: as I say, I only have/use one install/copy)
StaticMeshes folder *not* amongst the TagDatabases this time?
GlasWolf on 10/8/2006 at 02:11
Not sure what procedure you're using for the install, but I'd use Komag's tutorial. Touch wood I've never had a problem with installation/launching/editing (oops, that's torn it).
Just to check, my editor zip is called thief3editorrelease_jan2005.zip, windows lists it as 322 MB (338,192,277 bytes).

Err, for some reason, i can no longer select the walls for texturing in my level in the 3D view! I can select objects in the 3D view, but not the walls.
What am i doing wrong?
Edit: Nevermind, i found the button! :o

Sometimes you also have to rebuild the geometry when that happens, sluggs.
