@TS - Do you still have the Kernel_*.ibt & MainMenu_*.ibt files in your map folder? Also, check your System folder for any missing *.t3u files (AICore, Core, Editor, Engine, Fire, T3AI, T3Game, T3Gamesys, and T3Player).
Another thing to check in default.ini under [Editor.EditorEngine]:
EditPackages=AICore
EditPackages=Core
EditPackages=Engine
EditPackages=Fire
EditPackages=Editor
EditPackages=T3Game
EditPackages=T3AI
EditPackages=T3Player
EditPackages=T3Gamesys
I'm not sure where else to check :erg:

I had a look at the files all mentioned above. I've got all the .t3u files and the corresponding mention in the default.ini under [Editor.Editorengine] and alls well.
I don't have anything .ibt files at all in the maps folder, let alone those 2 you mentioned ascottk. Is this a likely problem? What are they for?
As for graphics problems, quite likely the cause. I'm working from a laptop which isn't top of the line by any degree. What does seem strange is that there are no problems until I reach a point, and it seems based on the meshes. I used the Komag tutorial and once I start using barrel racks i have trouble. Sometimes I can get as far as tombs.
The idea of upgrading the computer isnt going to happen at this stage, but I'd be very disappointed if I couldn't do some work. I've been an occassional user of the thief society for my binge use of DromEd over the last 3-4 years or so. Now that I finally have the time to apply myself, seems a shame that I cant do it.
Anywhoo, any further thoughts let me know. I've tried changing my graphic settings so that things run more easily. We'll see how that goes.:joke:

Ugh, laptop video drivers tend to lag months and years behind the desktop ones. If you have an nVidia video chipset, you could try something from (

All of the Kernel & MainMenu ibt files contain info (textures, smeshs, layout) for the UI (menus, buttons, etc.), player textures/model/animations, and general game info. I'm not sure why you'll need those files since the editor contains the sources (unbaked) of the above. There's been problems of crashes without the gmp & ibt files. But those ibt files I mentioned are the ones I'd be concerned about.
Oh yeah, when you compile/run a map with WriteResourceBlockFiles=True in user.ini, t3ed bakes those ibt files & puts them into your Thief - Deadly Shadows folder (where SaveGames, log files, * sound_*.xml files are stored). Or the t3ed root directory. If you have any ibt files in that folder then those will override t3's map directory & that's known to cause problems. So make sure there's no ibt files in that folder.

So essentially the problem is likely caused not by the editor but by my laptop's shortfalls. Its a Compaq presario (cant remember which one) and as I say, not exactly top of the line.
Oh well... Bummer.
Thanks for your help guys. I'll continue to fiddle, but changing the graphic levels didn't seem to help at all.

Did we not have a problem somewhere with new drivers screwing things up?
If you upgraded recently (or heaven forbid, some auto-update did when you weren't looking), maybe you need to roll back again.
That may have been something else, but it might be worth a shot.

im sorry if i acted "like an ass", but let me try and explain where im coming from. i installed T3Ed, after i got the item cost mods and the new Texture Pack, and it worked absolutely FINE, except for the "Add Prop" thing. i could view the entire map, and move about like normal. then one day, i decided to put rope arrows back in, but when i opened up the mission, i got nothin. no views at all, just a blank editor window with a pretty little menu and all the standard crap. so, naturally, i was like, "well... it doesnt hamper me from giving Garrett things, so it ought to work fine." i tried to run the miss, and the load screen comes up, says it cant find any quotes for the miss, so im like "ok, no problem here, just something i can fix later after i see this." but no, it CTD's on me, and doesnt make a log or anything. so i thought, "hmmm... maybe the nice people down at the LGS forums would help me out."
a month later : "Wtf? still no response? Theyre prolly just brushing me off as some 'n00b' who cant read a simple log, what dicks." so, i posted a bit more ... abrasive version of my original post, knowing that most of the people on the net wont help a 'n00b' unless they point a pike to thier face, so i did.
excuse me if i have offended anyone that i didnt intend to, i just intended to get my point across in the only way i thought they could understand, force.
now if youll excues me, im going to play RTC now. excuse me.

That's better.
And really weird sounding - did the T3Main.log contain anything about the crashes? It's probably not really a problem for the "Please ask your basic (newbie) questions in here" thread though, since it sounds like something went pretty seriously bork.
Have you been able to re-install and get things to work (without texture packs or other tweaks)?
oh - and for the record - the first post of yours I saw on the issue was the "hellooooo? are you guys listening to me?" one, which didn't exactly enamour me to your plight, and genuinely not knowing what you wanted in the first question because I've never used dromed sort of made me expect someone else to answer. I am kind of sorry it came to name-calling to get a responce: I guess everyone else expected someone else to respond too :(

Let's face it, we all have very limited time and I'm glad of the number of queries that do get answered, but everyone who comes here with a question should realise that they shouldn't expect or demand an immediate response, and certain queries may get missed just because eveyone volunteers their limited time, and it's often a fair bit of work to solve technical problems with T3ed.
So gently "bump" your query or create a separate thread if you think it's that important - at the worst I'll just have to move it in here (as I've done with basic queries in the past).

I have updated recently... I got tired of putting up with auto-update prompts and decided to let the computer have its own way.
Why is that a problem? And can it be fixed. Also, I've been considering giving my laptop a clean wipe and starting fresh. Any thoughts on if that could help?
