Okay, fear not -
I found the Static Meshes folder which I think may have been moved accidently at some point. I've movedit back where it belongs, but looking for the file, there was no AI_Weapons folder or even INV_WEAPON_UI. Its filled with .sm files and thats about it. However, looking in CONTENT/T3/TagDatabase I found 'CompiledDatabases,' 'SourceDatabases,' 'Vocabularies,' and yes, 'StaticMeshes.' Its not the same, it has the folder 'INV_WEAPON' in it and thats filled with .tim files.
Does this make sense?
Ziemanskye on 2/8/2006 at 14:38
Well, my Tagdatabase folder doesn't have a StaticMesh subfolder.
It's the staticmeshes folder full of *.tim files you want, and mine doesnt seem to have an AI_Weapons bit either (that might be how it thinks of it in the editor, rather than the file structure).

By moving the contents of the StaticMeshes folder that was in the TagDatabases into the StaticMeshes in the CONTENT/T3 directory I managed to convince it to work. However, how that file came to be moved about, and whether or not i should move all the others in the TagDatabases area as well I'm not too sure. If things continue to have problems then maybe, but for now Viktoria is leaving me and Ted alone.
Cheers for your help, guys.

Ok, new problem. I decided to reinstall everything because somehow things had obvious gotten messed around. So Ted is working. However, when I try to open a saved map, be it my own (incredibly tiny little thing) or one from the game, the editor shuts down, no error message or anything. The only thing I get is Window's standard message when things fail about if I want to send a report to Microsoft.
I figure this may have something to do with my computer's memory and have tried doing it with many nonessential applications closed, but it hasn't made a great deal of difference. I had this problem a few days ago when I first started using it but it seemed to go away somewhere along the line. If anyone has any advice on how to stop it, I'd greatly appriciate it.
Cheers

I posted a problem here a LONG TIME AGO.
You bastards have sloved Thief_Shadow's problem, and he was in the que AFTER me (no offense to TS, mind you). Now how about solving MINE?!
ok, i have 3 problems with T3Ed i need solved.
#1) Where the map view and whatnot is (kinda like in DromEd where you could tour the map and edit it and whatnot) gone. Definately going to need this fixed.
#2) When i try to do the "Add Properties" thing, the menu selection comes up greyed out, im not sure if this is because i was trying to do it with an OM or what, but its annoying as crap.
#3) One of my biggest problems, i cant get the editor to run the level. i get all the way to the end of the loading screen, and it just CTD's on me.
these are the problems i need solved before i could be able to do anything w/ T3Ed...

Nice to meet you too.
Now play nice.
I helped Thiefs_Shadow because I knew the answer, or at least where to look to try and help him. The whole random crash thing though I don't, so I haven't been able to help with that. My best and only guess is the old firewall problem - which I don't suffer so don't really know about.
To your impatient and impertinant posts:
#1: I don't know what you mean. Try the 3d window you have in the editor, since you can move and look and edit things straight in it.
#2: Again don't know what you mean, but maybe if you've got a read only file, or you're trying to add properties you can't. Or maybe it's just gray, and not grayed-out, such as if you hit the Show Non-local properties button, which makes them gray before you play with them so as to signal it belong to a parent object, but you can still edit them as normal.
#3: Gonna have to do better than that. It's well explained in the various tutorials, over in the wiki, and probably over in other places too. If there's an actual problem - like you can read the log files and tell us where it's not working rather than simply not jumping through the right hoops, then maybe we can be more help.
and beyond that:
WAIT LONGER
Or repost.
Or read the tutorials.
Or try not to sound like such a dick.
It's amazing how insulting people who might help you makes them less inclined to do so.

If you need help, ask nicely. If not, get a brain that works & solve it yourself.

Youve helped me with DromEd, now try with T3Ed
, fuckers.
I AM WAITING. I patiently await for the above issues to be resolved. Thank you.:erg:

As to my previous problems - i.e. T3Ed randomly closing whenever I try to add in a mesh, build the world or, more commonly, load a map which has had problems with meshes and world building.
I was thinking that it was more a question of my computer's memory but tests show thats doing alright. So I think it may be a question of the meshes. Two things I need to know
1. is there a patch for thief or the editor that will make things run generally more smooth. I have a leter release of thief, so its already version 1.1. When I played thief recently, it would often throw me out of the game every second time I went into a loading screen. (aside from intially loading my game). this made travelling across town very annoying).
2. Is there somewhere I can monitor why T3Ed is doing. Its not giving me a Viktoria message every time it cuts out, but I'd like to see if there some kind or error log. I had a look but couldn't find one.
Cheers

So far we've been called (en masse) jackasses, assholes and fuckers. I think it's a male bonding thing or something.
1. Go to View menu -> Viewports -> Configure, try the first option. Then select the bottom left viewport (remember,
left <--> right) and press Alt-3.
2. You do have an item selected (highlighted) when you're trying to access its properties, don't you?
3. Check your user.ini in your editor install directory, mine looks like this:
Code:
[BlockLoading]
;LoadFromResourceBlockFiles=True
[Source Control]
UseSourceSafe=0
[Engine.Engine]
UpdateGameSys=0
[Conversations]
SchemaChangesAllowed=true
[PCVertexPools]
DynamicVertexPool=6291456
StaticVertexPool=3145728
StaticShadowVertexPool=5242880

This sounds like a larger driver issue of some sort. Do you have the latest video, sound and motherboard drivers? Also try changing resolution, bloom/antialias and sound settings in-game to see if it makes any difference. Then again, see below...

You can log events when you're running the game itself (i.e. your map), but not the editor itself as far as I'm aware (?). It's crashing when you open a map, correct? I think it's probably related to the above and that suggests the 3d viewport (and video drivers) is the problem. Check (
