I've never played any of the underworld games with a druid before, so I thought that I'd give it a go. This time around, I have deliberately chosen the worst stats that I could get (instead of the other way around), to see how difficult it is to get through UW2 with a weak charachter. It really is more of a challenge to win battles, but I seem to be going okay so far.

I think the hardest limit is the strength which gives the maximum weight of the things you can carry.
I just can't resist wearing plate armors and if you are too weak, you can't wear a full armor set plus other indispensable items.

Generally, I never *tweak* my stats, I pick what is given. I've played Druids plenty of times, they're one of the best classes. Tinkers are fun to try too, in some cases you can play the game like Thief <img src="smile.gif" border="0">
Sort of...
So yeah, I don't think I've ever worn platemail in an UW game, there's too much I like to carry for that to happen.

Well, Unlike both Mages and Paladins (the two "closest" classes), they start with fairly high base skills of Attack, Defense, Mana and Casting. Higher than either Mages or Paladins were getting (though mages tended to have higher Casting). Druids also allow you to get the valuable Lore skill right off the bat. All you really need is a bit of weapon training, and your Druid is ready to go. Paladins don't even come with Mana OR Casting, only enough mana for 1 level 1 spell. After taking a look, Bards are a pretty good class too, but you can't start with both Mana and Casting skills. (And either of them come at the expense of weapon training.
In fact, I don't know if it's a bug, or what, but from a few test rolls of each character type, the Druids came out with the best Strength, Dex and Int. In fact, they must have screwed up Paladins since I couldn't seem to get a strength over 20 with them, when Strength and Intellegence are supposed to be their primary attributes.

Thanks Zerker. I'll know next time.
