Playing UU1 for 1st time...

This is probably a dumb question, but the Knights will NOT let me join, no matter how I answer their questions. They either say no, or i fling the "poison cup" to the ground when i try to drink it. I finally gave up and I'm on level 7 now, but I wanna know what the deal is? Thanks. Oh yea, one more thing, is there any way to tell which weapons/armor improve your skills? ie perfect longsword vs worn broadsword...

Drink up! Its the only way that you will get the ball rolling with those fellows. Its not actually poison at all, and will do you no harm.</p>

Yea, I choose that option, and then it says "You put the cup to your lips...and fling the cup to the floor." Then they say I'm not worthy. No matter what I try, my character refuses to drink! What can I be missing?

There are at least two dialogue options you have to choose in order to drink. The first you decide the drink, the second time you confirm it.

Nothing I can do will make my guy drink. This is what is said basically.
"I'm a poor son..."
Sacrifice life?
"Yes"
Submit to justice?
"Yes"
Take cup and drink it.
"You take the cup. Within it is a clear, odorless liquid. You raise it to your lips and...
Fling it to the floor"
Then thou are not worthy of us.

Then it kicks me out of the conversation.
Any ideas, guys? I know it's not necessary to join to win, but it's really bugging me. Thanks

Perhaps some previous action has rendered joining the Knights an impossibility?

(Or else it's a bug :)

IT's got to be a bug. "Fling it to the floor" is the second chance to drink or not drink. "Drink deeply" should be the other option on that screens.

Instead of clicking on dialogue options, try hitting the corresponding number on your keyboard.

OK, thanks guys, mystery solved. I guess my processor speed was speeding the whole process up, and using the keys it was selecting dont drink the second time without me even seeing it. I slowed it down, and it worked. Whew! Now to go combine those 3 keys and finish the game. Thanks a bunch.
