Okay, I downloaded Ultima Underworld the other day and have been playing it. However, I'm starting to think the version I downloaded has problems. Specifically, various groups of characters seem to be missing. Either that or the characters aren't actually supposed to be there...
When I enter the Goblin lairs on Level 1, there's no goblins... none. Until I break into the storage areas, and then they magically appear. Same for the Troll area on level 3 and Lizardman area on Level 2. Where's the trolls and lizardmen?
I assume these creatures are supposed to be there, right??? Please verify this so I can get a different version of the game (if necessary).
Also, on a different topic, the walkthrough for Ultima Underworld hosted on this site is fairly... sparse. Does anyone know of a more complete one, preferably with annotated maps?
Thanks!

That is strange. I've never heard of that problem. Do the denizens still talk to you?
I think if you ask nicely, PraetorJudis might give you a link to his site. It has what you seek.

I don't so much ahave a walk through, but I do have the manuals and official documentation right here:
ftp://ftp.otherwhenent.com/uw1manual.zip
I haven't heard of that specific bug before, but it certainly
is a bug, and you should try to d/l the file again from somewhere else.

...but do yourself a favor and only use the sparse walkthrough!
This game is such a delight to explore, that a complete walk through would truly reduce your enjoyment of it.

Thanks you, both of you. I did get a new download and it works fine now. It was really bizarre how the first one omitted whole sets of creatures... no wonder the game seemed more sparse than I'd remembered it!
I won't need anything more specific now that the game is working right. I only wanted a better walkthrough before so I could confirm what was supposed to be where, and determine how messed up my version of the game was. I will however check out that manual you mentioned, Praetor, since I'd been wondering what I was *supposed* to know when I started the game.
Again, thanks to both of you

I do believe the original manuals were B&W, therefore these PDFs will be too. Exept for the first page, and you can skip printing that page as it's content free!
