I don't have to watch it either, but I absolutely agree with ZylonBane concerning the neon green border and the cartoon character. With a video I find it pretty offputting to have roughly one third of the picture taken up by a static yet distracting frame. What's your reason for having it?

He obviously likes having it there. It's a channel indent that Ryan likes.
Seems clear enough to me.
As for his voice, your pipes are your pipes (Stephen Russell quote there). Harsh to disparage someone for how they sound.

I understand you want to watermark your videos, but there's more discreet, non-obtrusive ways of doing so. You can have your cartoon on a corner of the screen, tiny enough that people barely see it

No, he's right. He's absolutely right.
You know, at first, I thought ZylonBane had posted a troll comment (manner of delivery), but as I went to bed last night, I thought about what he said. He actually does have some good points.
1: I can't do anything about my voice. That's fixed. I can only try to cultivate a more pleasant tone.
2: The reason I had the border there was that Thief uses a 4:3 window (in software mode). 4:3 games do not fit well on Youtube's display, being 16:9. But what I can do is reduce the thickness of the border, reposition it, change the color to something other than neon green, or just get rid of it altogether.
3: I can see why the character would put people off if I just left him there throughout the video. I can take him off and only have him pop up at key moments if that'll help.
Guys, I misjudged ZylonBane's comment, thinking he was just trolling the thread (I believe we've had issues in the past before as well), so if you're reading this Zylon, I apologize. You actually helped me discover a few things to iron out.

those days where we all played it in software mode
What are you talking about?
I almost never ran it in software mode even back then in 1999 or 2000, 3D accelerated cards existed back then already.

Well, I had the option to play it in software mode back then, so I did. Maybe not everyone played it this way but there are people who have.

This is how I played Thief The Dark Project back in 1999, and when I moved on to a 3d accelerated video card and higher color palette I really missed that dark, creepy atmosphere that only the software mode delivered.
I wish there was a (easy to set up) way to play both Thief games in software mode.

Or even if you choose to keep the same size and shape of them, and like it that way, maybe just dimming them quite a bit by making them like 10%-20% opacity? Thief, being a dark game, doesn't do very well with bright things around it :)
I didn't really realize there was a software mode for Thief, or even if there was that it would look different(?). Pretty cool

thief has actually been developed primarily with sw mode in mind, with hw acceleration being hastily tacked on later, resulting in problems (the engine not being a shining example of great speed and compatibility), and some effects only existing in the sw renderer (heat disks).
I actually wouldn't mind watching a TFixed sw mode walkthrough, would be interesting to see whether I've managed to stay fully compatible. you would have to update and move your saves though. also yeah, not a fan of the neon edges and grinning cartoon character, I mean it's fine for intro/beginning of the video, but looking at it all the time is unpleasant.

This is why I'm glad to have you guys here; I can reliably have my eyes opened to issues I didn't think were bothersome until now. What I can do is remove the character from the video and instead of having neon green borders, perhaps I can ask an artist here to design a special overlay for the Thief videos I record in the future, one that looks Thiefy. I think that'd work much better than the green borders. How does that sound?
