i am getting the direct 3d device driver error on thief 2. i got the same error on thief 1 but was able to get around it by turning the hardware setting off in the vidoe settings. the graphics were bad but it was playable. you can't turn it off in thief 2 or if you can i don't know how. the forum says that the only fix is to downgrade the dx drivers. i am currently running dx 9c and have 2-7600 gt gpus. how do you downgrade the dx drivers? maybe it's not worth it but i would like to play the game.

If you are running Thief 2 you should remove the semicolon (;) from the line ;safe_texture_manager in the file user.cfg which you should open with Notepad.

That's obviously not the only fix, in fact I would only do that as a last resort.
